Really impressive level of quality! Also nice attention to detail with the NPCs climbing over the sides and slow-mo when narrowly avoiding them. Would love to see a leaderboard for time survived in the future but you guys managed to accomplish a lot, so really cool to see a similar concept with a different execution. Overall very well done!
This was a very fun and silly game! I could see this being a fun game with friends to see who can survive the longest. Also can I just say, that intro UI was gorgeous. Good stuff!
THEY CAN’T CATCH ME IM FAST AF! lmao what a silly game this could totally be a party game like getting your friends to play a round since you do change teams, that would be fun!
Multiplayer is totally a possibility! We had this entire replay system in the works that unfortunately we just didn't have the time to finish implementing, but the replay system worked by running its own server in parallel and recorded anything that was replicated during gameplay, so it basically required us to build the game with multiplayer already fully integrated on the backend.
The funniness factor is OFF THE CHARTS, I hope more people play and rate it because it was genuinely such a good time haha. The VERY cute crowd was my favorite part xD
Thank you for the very kind feedback!!! We of course had to include all of our pets and having them cheer us on as the crowd only seemed appropriate. Hope you had at least as much fun playing our game as we had making it!
I was enjoying the game until an audience member interrupted by running across the field fully clothed! The level of polish on this is unreal. Love the feel of slow mo rolling out of the way. Maybe an odd feature to shout out but the intro sequence fading through all the splash screens and then the crowd cheering in the background is quintessential sports game stuff. Great work!
Very much appreciate the kind feedback! The audience is for the most part usually well-behaved but they still have their quirks haha. We've been working in UE4/5 and have been doing game jams annually for over 10 years now, so it's always a lot of fun getting to put our skills to the test and seeing how much we've improved over the years!
I lasted about six minutes after getting bored running in circles. This is a fun idea! I think a stamina meter would be a good way to keep things a bit more intense. Good stuff.
Fair point! Stamina could definitely add some extra challenge to the game loop, and maybe even provide some extra incentive to pickup oil as well.
I agree with Quentin, but as someone who is learning unity, I cant imagine how hard it is to learn unreal. Props for not only getting a fun game out there, but also being one of the few teams to make a game using Unreal :)
Very much appreciate the feedback! Unreal is a monolith of an engine that's for sure and can be intimidating at first, but it's also a lot of fun to learn and extremely versatile once you begin to grasp how all the tools work.
Unity still does some things better though, especially in regards to anything 2D and just being more optimized out-of-the-box. Unreal can be just as optimized, but their optimization tools are a bit more sophisticated which tends to give them a bad rap since a lot of devs haven't learned how to properly optimize their games.
I really like the look of the game! I unfortunately was not able to run it properly on my device since my machine can not handle unreal engine stuff.
I'm sorry to hear you couldn't run it! What are your specs if you don't mind me asking? We avoided using nanite as much as possible since that tends to be a deal breaker on older GPUs, the grass is unfortunately the single instance of nanite we're using though.
We're also using lumen for GI/reflections as well since that's just the default nowadays, but we may try using static lighting instead and disable nanite altogether just to see if we can get it to run well on the Steam Deck.
I have an I7 laptop with intel integrated graphics, it's not neccesarily a problem with your game, it's just a problem with UE.
Very fun premise! I wish there was a little more in strategy than running in circles for the first 5 minutes but it was cool nonetheless. Extremely cool roll slow-mo by the way!
Appreciate for the feedback, glad you enjoyed our silly game! We totally would have added more complexity to the gameplay but as always we worked to the last hour just to get this functional lol. Thanks for playing :D
Omg I didn't see which submission was yours until after replying, LOVE your game. I even went back yesterday to get a time on the leaderboards
