The layout and design of this adventure are top tier. I love the addition of statblocks beside the room description, reminds me of OSE adventure formatting. The color scheme and map are beautiful. The adventure looks like it would be a lot of fun to play with an excellent theme, interesting factions, and various omens to keep the players fully engaged.

well fuck! The amount of work, detail and talent in here is undeniable. Just crazy in this amount of time. Whatever methodology you brewed up, it's working. I think my only gripe, if there is to be any, is that it looks veryyyyy deadly to stroll down there. I would've loved a bit more breathing room for players to explore this awesome adventure. But it's not knocking down any of my ratings.

Holy smokes, this is stellar! Your isometric map is mesmerizing, but immediately legible, and your art is so evocative and cohesive. What an inspiration. Thanks so much for this master-class adventure and all your work in the discord trenches.

Excellent layout and art! The pixel portraits are an especially nice touch.

This is a killer adventure! Layout is clean, the map and art is lovely and all the themes are well integrated. I do have a slight nitpick, I'm actually unclear what the trap in 2 is. The dungeon has a lovely variety of monsters with motivation, traps, hazards, and treasure. Well done, a truly excellent submission!

Developer

There isn't a trap in 2?

Woops! I meant 3, the Bloody Orb.

Oh, it's a football gauntlet. You gotta run through them with the ball or be crushed by the stones in the floor as they contract upon you. I'm going to change it after the competition to a basic crushing wall or ceiling drop trap, I think. I just needed to work the football game in and that was one of the ways I managed it.

Such a clean layout and creepy vibe. The map is great and I love the color scheme. Very nice!

Developer

Thank you. Some times things just work out and the story finds you and spend hours binging vampire movies.

This is excellent. The map is killer, the leech is even cooler. The quality of life implements, including the room keywords, are super nice and I am happy they made the cut even with page constraints. Great work.

Thank you. It was very important to me they stayed. I wanted to have  GM be able to run this as minimal-prep as possible. Could probably use a few more pages to let it breathe, but I'll consider that after this whole thing is over.

My favorite part usability wise is the quick little words in each room to let you know very quickly which elements it contains. That is such a good idea

It's something I've been playing around with for a bit. Erik & I were talking about this in his reviews. I used to do them as a mini detail to describe the space. When I publish Things Possessed of Power, you'll see them being used that way. It's good for scene-setting, but I feel like this does a better job of preparing the GM by being explicit about what is in the room.

  • Inspiration on point. Love how clearly and concisely you called these out. Easy for me as reader/rater to understand.
  • Immaculate vibes.
    • Very cool premise.
    • Gorgeous art/map/aesthetics.
    • Consistent tone.
    • Great delivery of exposition (to players) through omen tables, rumors etc.
    • "Umbrella Lugosi" got a chuckle out of me.
  • Usability: Great.
    • Great, escalating (?) random encounter table.
    • Excellent formatting throughout. Easy to read, love the monster stats in the side margins (?). Great use of space, easy to use for GMs.
    • Interesting use of keywords at the beginning of area descriptions!
    • It may be embedded throughout, but I think it would have been nice to get an overview of the adventure at the beginning. I don't think we learn who Malory is until a bit later. We get references to her, via other characters, but she's not listed in the factions section (I know space was probably an issue). I think you're trying to give exposition more organically (which I can appreciate), but I personally would prefer a short section on "here is the definitive version of what happened just before this and what's happening in the dungeon now". As the GM, I don't want to have to piece this together as I'm reading through. Maybe just a personal preference thing.

Great job, dude! I could easily see this entry winning the whole thing. Well done!

Developer

You know, it was originally there, but then I put in the art for the hole and had to remove some of that explanation of who Malory/Count was. So that's well noticed. Definitely could use like 4 more pages.

The artwork in this is so so good. I love the map and I think you nailed the retro gothic blend. The monster stats  next to the rooms was a solid choice. I could see that being a godsend during a session.

Same page stat blocks is one of those things I think OSE gets right. It's so much easier to run when the pertinent details are on the page when you need them.

Love the design of this whole adventure. It's super well written and drawn, with so much flavour from the descriptions, quotes and rumours. I think the omens are a really really cool addition that really add to this. The super clear map, incorporation of Shune and the way the factions are set up really neatly for RP if you wanted to are all really great additions.

It seems to be a popular idea in the OSR blogosphere. I saw omens from Goblin Punch's underclock & Tomb Robbers of the Crystal Frontier. When I was running using them, it just did so much more to create tension that I sort of felt I needed them for this little gothic tale.

Nice map and color scheme, the art is on point for this. I would also agree that having the stat blocks in a column outside the room works well.

Developer

Thank you. Gotta use every inch available.

This has a great layout that is well formatted and easy to read and is an awesome adventure .

Developer

Thank you muchly. I hope you get a chance to play it and let me know how it goes.

I really like the way you formatted the stat blocks in the narrow column next to the rooms. The punchy descriptions for each location in purple are also super helpful tags! Awesome work.

Developer

Thank you. Both of those things were some experiments I'm glad are going over well.
