I'm afraid so, no. It's a thing with many RPG games to sometimes show your character's appearance at the side of screen... But never ever seen this being a constant thing, or at least there being an option for so.
there would be subtle gameplay disadvantages to this such as you would rob yourself of certain clues if you were decent at reading what the games doing
