I enjoy the art style. The protagonist's design is very cool. The movement feels good once you get some momentum going and the music is chill. Nice work!

The visuals for this game are really good, the evil train model is quite impressive for a jam game! The only thing that really bothered me with this game was that falling onto the track meant instantly dying, which was annoying for sections like the one where the train hand breaks the floor.

Wow, the artstyle is really something to behold. It looks so polished, I love it!

Even though I'm bad at it, the concept is really cool: platforming on a moving train while dodging all kinds of obstacles and trying to reach the end

The animations are also very good, especially the sliding animation

You did a great job!

Really like the design of the boss, like if Megatron meets steam train. I did find it a bit difficult to avoid attacks that come from across the screen. As in there was plenty of time to see where it was coming from, but hard to tell when I should slide.

Overall good work!

Nice parkour-style game, I liked the variety and the theming of the game felt very secret agent/spy-esque, which I think made it fit in with the slick jam theme quite well. I think the camera was a little awkward at times, the cut-away thing seemed to work in some cases but not others, which sometimes made it a little awkward to control inside the cars, but generally this wasn’t a major issue. It also seemed like I could get stuck between cars sometimes by accident when running on top which was a little annoying, but also manageable. Well done!

Neat! The slide feels pretty sick. The visual style is nice, I like the texturing on the player character and the sort of hatching-like shading. I think you could be a bit more generous with checkpoints. The feeling of moving with the train when you get on top is really fun though.

I see now that everyone's mentioned the checkpoint thing a lot. But there's some cool stuff going on here, I'm glad I stuck through past the first few frustrating restarts.

Developer(+1)

LOL yea. i literally was thinking of including something in the bio about it. as it keeps being the main issue. however! we got a checkpoint build. but are just waiting to upload it till after the voting period. just a version with a lot of little fixes.

The first thing I did was walk off the train lol. The environment style and the boss both look very slick! I do wish there was more clear indicators for what was dangerous (e.x. not knowing the spinning thing would deal damage at first, thought would just push me). Also agree with the other comments about the checkpoints.

The art style was really good, especially the character model and the shaders. For a game made in 10 days, the platforming feels pretty good. I do wish there were a bit more checkpoints and a more constant shadow under the player so they can tell where they're gonna land.

Developer

Thank you! our main texture artist did all the texture work on the main character! digitally unwrapped and hand drew the whole thing!
As for the checkpoints. Yeaaa honestly i wish we had more time to implement that. it was on the list. and we probably should've worked on it sooner. but just ran out of time at the end of the day. Thank you so much for playing.!

Feels like a full action sequence from something like Split Fiction! One thing to add though, if you die sometimes the backtracking is very unforgiving, especially the running along the top of the trains section and when the claw starts smashing the floor making parts of the train fall off.

Developer(+1)

LOL this seems to be the biggest thing people keep mentioning with the game. is the checkpoint thing. and honestly. 100% agree. Our original plan was to setup 3 checkpoints in each "section" and then you only had like 3 or 4 lives, that way you could get hit less, BUT you also didnt have to backtrack as much. Maybe we will implement it for an updated bug fixed versio

The visuals are crazy it really feels like a full blown game! It was also fun to spam the slide to move around and the platforming felt quite nice!

This art style is sick! I also enjoyed the gameplay of it, but i do wish the checkpoints were closer together. I couldn't beat the part ontop of the train as I kept falling and getting thrown back way to far in my opinion, There is a terminal right before we get ontop of the train that would've been perfect for a checkpoint. Though this is a easy fix, and I do think that this game has great potential

Developer

Thank you! yea we had a checkpoint build. but honestly it slipped through the cracks until we had like 2 hours left. and then did NOT want to implement it yet in fear of causing more bugs. Our temporary fix was just give the player 8 to 10 lives. But we are planning checkpoints for a version after bug fixes!

The boss designs are awesome! Their mechanical/steampunk vibe really fits the setting of a train! I felt like a few of the parkour sections were a little tedious to get through, as falling through the floor after getting so far didn't feel great from a player's perspective. But the beginning portion is very strong! Definitely gave a slick impression! Great work!

Really great game! I loved the visual style and the moveset really felt nice and intuitive. One small issue for me in a few rooms was that the fixed perspective made it a bit difficult to see where I was going. Overall very fun and original!

Developer

Thank you so much for the comment! good to know about the camera! we at some point had the ability to rotate the camera 15 to 30 degree in each direction, but we kept flinging the camera outside the train car on practice. so we just scrapped it for the jam. In a perfect world we definitely would find time to add it though!

This is a step up from your last Bigmode jam game! Good to see you here again. I like the parkour element and this artstyle, and I love the infinite-ish train setting and character designs. Sliding under attacks is very slick. There were a few attacks that felt cheap (the final boss having a hitbox while curling their arm in or when they move back forward very quickly) and the brutal save points made that a struggle. Still, lots of great things here! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I FULLLLY agree with the save points. we had a checkpoint system. but ended up with just not quite enough to time to implement it. Also good call on the final boss hit box when starting the arm attack. I know we are fixing up some things for a bug fix version after game jam. imma implement your suggestion (that and a million other things. lol)
