First of all: I love and appreciate every single one of you who have decided to check my game out. <3

My second ever game made. I THOUGHT I LEARNED MY LESSON FROM THE LAST GAME JAM AND I THOUGHT I SCOPED DOWN AGGRESSIVELY!! And even what I managed to push out was about half of my "small" plan lol.

Even though this was a pain to make, I suddenly feel really happy that I made this. Literally smiling while typing this lol.

I guess next time, I should:

look at similar game jams in the past and play the games submitted in it to get an idea as to how I should scope my game.

I also learnt the beauty of spending time to refactor your code when it gets too messy and you're having to work with like, seven layers of abstraction lol. Learnt a lot on how to manage complicated-ish code bases. Absolutely invaluable experience.

And also, I underestimated how big of a role execution plays over the idea. I think for my next game jam (if I do it alone), I'm going to make a simple game but polish the HELL out of it AND do some art too. This game was literally just all coding. So unfortunately, it isn't as pretty as I want it to be.

Also, I underestimated sound design too.

So much cool things I've learnt! Can't wait to join the next game jam ngl (after I take a short break 😭🙏)

I died three times, lmao! I like how it looks, but how do you fight here? And what goal do we, as players, have to achieve?

Mb 😭 I guess I gotta work on having a more comprehensive tutorial and give more time on polish as opposed to just solely putting effort in ideas.

Thank you for your comment! 😊 your criticisms are invaluable and I think I've finally grasped the importance of polish and a small scope. I guess next time, I'll give both the idea execution and polish equal amounts of my time, as opposed to spending only 10% of time on polish.

Appreciate it! 🫡

I don't know how I managed to get a blue screen telling me I finished the level. It was quite difficult when the checkpoint added some enemy by my side. And I really did not understand what is the ultimate's real purpose but it was satisfying to finish it.
