All my homies hate baby face jack why he pee on da rug. But lmao very fuunny game and also i had tried using the same "The Dude" the very first time i'd tried playing with sprite sheets on bevy - so glad to see him here XD

Developer

Ahaha free is free my boy xD

"The dude" need to live on, generation after generation

This was very funny and fun! I loved the visuals but i cannot help but feel underwhelmed by the fact they were not made for the jam. Fantastic camera work and I loved the music. I wish the music could shine more though the (too) loud SFX. I also think more could have been done with the movie/tv aspect and still felt original. I strongly feel one can make allusions to media without quoting it verbatim.

Developer

Heya, Yeah we are not good at drawing, before having animation, punching was just a brew going forward xD
But hey, we took free and open stuff and credited it, it's guess next time i'll get someone to do unique art stuff x)
i did still struggle on parallax T_T, having free background is cool but making it work is still a work.

Music was added last moment, could'nt find anything better, this is our first very project outside of school.
Tv aspect could have  been done you right, we just didn't though about it, the plan first wasn't being a "caricatural fight movie" that's maybe why we didn't think of it

anyway thank for you review <3

Nice little game. I enjoyed the amusing dialogue and responsive controls to page through it. Dude's rug has to be respected. Timely minigame at the end, too! (Would be better with a bit of sound :)

Minor issue, I got stuck in a looping "punching" animation during the next-to-last long conversation. Seemed a little silly, but nothing breaking.

Developer

hey man!
thank you so much for your review and especially taking the time to play the game!
it means a lot to us as it is the very first game we create (for most of us) and the first time touching Rust (for most of us)
Hope you had fun playing it

for the bug, unfortunately we know but didn't had enough time to do anything about it :(
We wanted to do so much more but I guess it is what it is ;p

PS: thank you, you're one of the only people not hating on the curling mini-game <3
I m the dev behind the dreadful mini-game that everyone despise, I did my best to join my team on what truly mattered (the main game) as fast as I could x)

PS 2: the story is (heavily) inspired by "The big Lebowski" by the Coen brothers, if it made you laugh I would recommend giving it a watch ;)

this was very unexpected. you had me laughing, good job. The twist at the end really threw me.

The chill dudes animation is insanely good. The cutscenes are fire

Developer

thank you very much, hope you had fun playing the game !
for the cutscenes all the honor goes to tipragot, who is the one who did the code behind it ;)

Now where did I hear this story before? :P Excellent camerawork and comedic timing! I legit think I’ve never seen this many (well-made) cutscenes in Bevy before :D Next time, could you also add a “skip cutscene” button? I died at some point and had to restart the game, which took a whiiiile to get back to gameplay. Other than that, very enjoyable, great job!

Developer

I talk about it almost since the beginning.

I did code one "for staff" for changing background, I was going chapter directly. But was really messy.

I should have let him in

Developer

Thank you very much for playing the game!
This is a very valid point, most of us didn't think it would be much of a problem doing the game in one shot so we didn't think of it

PS:This story is entirely original and I don't like your accusations ;p
For anyone wondering the story is (very) inspired by "The big Lebowski" (great movie)

As a newcomer to the engine, I was impressed by the amount of sequenced stuff in the scenes for being made in bevy. The bent Big Lebowski storyline and the focus on curling went well with the theme.

Think the curling part was a bit out of place visually and it might be nicer to grow the arrow or something else for the strength of the shot.

Nice game, but I honestly think it has zero relation to fever dream theme

Developer

Hey!
Thank for taking the time to play the game ;)

We based the main story line on a movie that is "fever dreamish" so we could have a story that would fit the theme and not ponder too long on what we should build and get to the actual making of the game
Sorry though you didn't saw the connection to the theme (we wanted to incorporate so much more), we'll try to do better next time!

Beautiful pixel art and ui. Shooting minigame was difficult

Great artwork and the tone had me laughing especially the boss intros. I also loved the slow effect and explosion when you kill the enemies. Some variation would be nice to have in the attacks but I had a good time.

Developer

thank you very much for your feedback, that means a lot to all of us in the team. I'm glad that you liked the style and our humour. And yeah, we know that it's a little repetitive but we didn't have much time add other mechanics. The next time we'll do better. Thank you again for your comment, we appreciate it :D

It was fun and funny! The graphics were impressive, except for during the curling, which looked quite out of place. I loved the way characters were introduced, and the dialogue was fun! However, the fighting was a bit repetitive. Great job!

Developer

thank you for the feedback, we appreciate it a lot ! I'm happy that our game made you laugh, that was the intention. I understand your frustration with the curling minigame, we just said to ourselves that with the theme of the jam that's ok, this can be a little bit out of place haha 😅

Anyway I'm glad that you however liked our game, that's the best reward for us :D

Fun beat'em up. I like the goofy art style and characters.
Wonder how hard this is to make in Bevy, because surely this kind of game seems easier to make in other engines.
The aim shooting mini-game is a drag though, and I did not even win it. Then it pops me back to the main menu🥲

Only 1 of us knew how to Code in Rust & Bevy, so we learn on the go, with more times, more could have been done.

But hey, plan was to try at least :)
I was on the Parallax and somes sprites part (and the cover). That was not fun, Finding good textures that matches together was the hardest part, tbh, parallax code wasn't THAT hard, just some new stuff to learn.

Looking at how fast "the 1 guy who knew rust" did code his part, i guess it's not THAT hard too

(i proposed a skip button to the curling, but nobody said ok T_T)
Glad you enjoyed, thanks :)
