An impressive endeavor for a solo jam! The physics reminded me a bit of Toontown Online's race mode (in a good way - it's got charm!). Mechanics were well thought out and gave the gameplay a nice layer of depth. The only issue I have with this game is me - my skill issue. Those COMs are tough and remind me that I gotta get gud. Well done!
Thanks for playing and providing feedback! I attempted to give a sort of randomized handicap to the COMs, but I guess I didn't kneecap them enough.
This is awesome! I'm super impressed with how much you were able to get done in only a week! Out of all the games i've rated this jam, I've spent the longest time playing this game by far. Despite that I still never won a race haha (the cpus are brutal!)
I'm so glad you enjoyed!
driving mechanics were surprisingly good! My winning strategy was to only boost, lol. customization was a nice touch! Well Done!
When in doubt: BOOST
I genuinely loved playing this game. The level of customization was crazy impressive, not to mention how much I enjoyed the aesthetics, and character art (the little skull racer is my favorite!) The gameplay was incredibly smooth too and the whole vibe reminded me of the old school MarioKart mixed with some vaporwave, which just makes a peak combo. However, the biggest standout for me was the slick mechanic. It's SO GOOD!! You did an amazing job incorporating the theme of the game jam by the having the player constantly choose between boosting or attacking. The mechanic is absolutely genius. It encourages the player to strategize and use their resources wisely while on the move. It such an effective mechanic I wish I saw it in big-name racing games. Kudos!! ✨✨
This is some wonderful feedback! I'm so glad you enjoyed and thank you for sharing your impressions!
Really loved all the customization! Welldone.
Thanks!
I'm a Blue Skull, V1, Cogs, Cleaning Crew, Cloaked Racer player. Impressed with the racer customization and number of tracks in a Jam! The announcer and car engine sounds are great. Very cool racing game. Move over FZero/Super Mario Kart, Slick City's in town!
Thank you for playing!
Nice game. The gameplay feels pretty smooth. However, I was not good at it XD. Everyone has the same speed right? I hope XD. Nonetheless, it was a good experience. Good job!.
Thank you for playing!
There is a slight variation in speed from NPC to NPC. It is randomized, but designed to take into account the fact that the NPCs tend to calculate a perfectly straight line from target destination to target destination, which would give them an unfair advantage. It's basically a controlled handicap.
Amazing presentation, I absolutely love the UI design.
Racing was also super fun.
Thank you so much! UI is so often an after thought that I tried to operate UI-first in this go around. It's nice that the effort was noticeable.
Great game, actually pretty polished for a solo dev! Fun to play and decent control
Thanks for playing! Getting the controls to feel "decent" was a real hurdle.
racing is always fun . It would be super if there was a leaderboard at the end and what place the player is in
You are absolutely right - a leaderboard would be a great addition to the race completion sequence. Thanks!
Simple cute racing game.
Thanks for playing!
Very fun wacky concept and nice retro graphics! Reminds me a lot of those old simulated 3d racing games like Pole Position or Super Mario Kart
That's absolutely the vibe I was channeling. Thanks for playing!
