Crazy stuff. Tough game too. Clever design for a jam.
Love the low-poly models, and the way the sheep move around is really cute. Well done!
The asthetics is beautiful. I was just lining sheep to bottom fence then easily get them out
That's an incredibly well scoped game! Super fun game loop for a jam and it gives the impression of basically being feature complete and fairly polished! Incredible :)
baaaaaaahahahahaha
super fun game.
Baaaa-latro
I would play the hell out of this game if you built it out. So much fun, and very funny. Great work
Haha I can't believe I didn't think of that tagline, I might have to steal it!
Extremely clever take on the Engine Game genre. I played this for quite a while, was fun :D Wish there was an end goal to signify you’ve beat the game (if there already is, I suppose I didn’t beat it haha)
I like the premise of the game and the different upgrades and dream modifiers you can have but I feel that the control of the dog and the behaviour of the sheep actively go against the rest of the game.
Sending the dog to a location by clicking would be nicer I think and let you just keep using the mouse over the entire game. Buffs and nerfs to speed or response could still be overlaid on top.
More importantly if the sheep had some form of herding behaviour, it would make the experience a lot more satisfying I think. If you wanted the game to be harder you can always increase other things like the ramp of targets needed or introducing more adverse effects, but overall it might be good to make it less about fighting the “spread in all directions” behaviour of sheep and more about choosing your upgrades wisely and what groups to prioritize herding.
For example regular herding would make the sheep form into groups and bark could break those groups up, this way you could herd out groups more effectively while still be able to select what to send first.
The space modifier for the dog feels overly sensitive I think.
Overall, it’s a fun idea that I’d like to see developed further, also groovy music!
Thanks for the feedback! I actually did add a slight 'herding force' to try and keep the sheep together but I agree that I didn't make it strong enough to be that noticeable. Moving by clicking is something I didn't consider but is a good suggestion.
I liked the graphics and top-down + 3D aesthetic. It was pretty silly to stack on weird effects (the rolling aspects reminds me of the game "Everything"). Could have used some "baas" from the sheep. It would also be improved by a delay after achieving the goal, since there is a sort of abrupt transition into the shop UI afterward. But overall, fun to play!
The low poly vibe worked well with the cute little jumping animations and overall was a pretty fun experience. I like these sorts of games with roguelike elements. I've definitely seen the herding dog style game before, so good job on making this stand out with that extra mechanic. I would have liked to see a bit more powerups, as it looks l I ran into all of them somewhat quickly, and the dog movement controller was sometimes a bit too floaty to control, but it was still pretty fun. Good job on this! I made a video of my playthrough here.
Thanks, I appreciate the effort of recording a video, that's a very useful form of feedback! And yeah I had plans for more items and stuff but inevitably I ran out of time.
Really awesome! Great art and interesting upgrade choices that made the gameplay way more tactical (I was trying really hard to avoid getting the red sheep till the last second) . Who would have thought you could make a Beaver Bother-like from DK64 actually fun!
My only critique was getting the floaty dog upgrade and it tanked my run as the controls were a bit tough for me, but I still had a really great time. I can't believe how much work you got done in a week.
