How does the game fit the theme?
Strange Themes manifests with the game in the characters and environments being atypical from usual cafe game simulations.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All code and assets were created by hand. Gracklins was the artist for the game, Desist Dawdling did all the programming and drew the environment backdrops.
How many people worked on the game?2

I like how to look this cat
The art was nice, but the gameplay does need some more feedback and content. I think you could do away with the add to order button. Just when someone clicks on an item it puts it in the middle to show what you've chosen just like the add to order button already does. Then if it's selected again you can remove it, or add another if you plan on multiple drinks in an order.
Yeah the artist is amazing but the programmer (me) had some personal things going on. We are improving gameplay post-jam and planning for a full game design. I've already implemented logic where an item is clicked and it gets added to the cup on the counter (instead of clicked on the counter). We have made a lot of improvements post-entry. Thank you very much for playing and for the feedback! We very much appreciate it!
Really like the art
Funny little game. Lack of some feedback to know if I gave the good thing or not (I can even give empty mix). Visual are great though.
The color palette and art style are great. I really felt the lack of a score bar to know if I did everything right and didn't mix the wrong ingredients. On a positive note, the simple animation when clicking "Mix" feels very satisfying!
Cute game and nice game
Cute little game, it took me a minuet to realise i needed to click ingredients to move the menu and select the items but once i got through that I could get through it. SOlid little game loop, could easily be developed into a bigger concept. Love the cat btw!
Definitely planning to expand into a full game! Thanks for playing!
We had a very similar idea! I like your take on it and really enjoyed the artwork
Thanks! Great minds think alike lol!!! Thanks for playing! Yes, our artist is amazing!!!
Really cool game, amazing job!
P.D. That's a cute cat
I enjoy anything with cats in it! Good job.
Really cute concept. Excited to see what you add to it after the jam!
Us too! Thanks for playing!
Good job!
Sad you didn't had time to add the music a sfx to it, it help a lot.
Other than that is smooth, funny to see all the customer face. Will read your design doc later, its interesting to have access to that
Agreed on music and sounds. We even had some picked out! We are excited to expand this beyond the jam though! Let us know what you think of the doc. It's based off a template provided by PirateSoftware. My ADHD brain likes how it is broken down.
You should !
I read the document, I don't have a lot to say on the first part, it's good to have a frame to find an idea. What I can suggest you is on the "finished by", don't htink it's a good approach for a game jam, you may want to use some priority instead: P0, P1, P2, P3, P4 (P0 is the most important). Like that you don't waste time to think of what to do next, and you think in advance at all the step needed to reach the goal and in which order.
Like that you try to put in P0 what is important to have all your team working correctly (in my game it was set up the scene and the parralax camera for example). Then in P1 what is needed to have a complete game loop (on my game it was to be able to display a scene at a window, to enter a code, to take an action and to have a consequence). and in P2 what make you game have content (for me it was adding more scene, make transition between them). After is polish, details (for me it was SFX, music, transitions scene, title, etc) I am habit to implement sfx, that's why I put it at the end, but it can be P2 or P1 or P0 for other.
with this method, you know that doing P0 and P1 ensure you a complete game. And after is only bonus to make it better for the end of the jam
Much appreciated! Thank you for the feedback! Like I said it's a template provided by another game dev, but I will definitely get that implemented over dates!
Nice game! It would be even better if you added some sounds
Agreed. We have some music already picked out, just didn't have the time to implement it. We will be expanding this further and are also excited to see where it goes! thank you!
This can grow to be an amazing game. Cozy cafe, but still exploring the strange places! Would love to see how it further develops.
We are planning to do a full game! Be sure to follow us both ;)
This is a super cute idea for a game! Cafe games are a classic idea. The only suggestion for improvement I have would be to add some funky cafe music.
yes! We have some great music picked out, but only had the first day and saturday to really work on it so will have to add that later
