We really like the cinematic feel, the god rays especially. We might have preferred without the text, we weren’t sure how it was appearing in world, maybe better as symbols or decipherable glyphs?
Thank you so much for the feedback! It means a lot, especially coming from the Synty team.
This was my very first Jam and my first ever finished project in Unity. I actually considered using symbols or glyphs at first, but since I wanted to strictly follow the rules and avoid using AI-generated art—and not having a 2D artist to help—I decided to go with glowing text. I felt it was a more direct way to convey the 'hidden messages' so that even without reading the description, the story remains clear to anyone looking at the image.
My main goal for this Jam was to finally break the loop and finish a project from start to finish. Thank you for organizing this competition; it’s been a huge learning experience and a great motivation for beginners like me!
I like the cinematic feel. I can see you have put in thoughts in details for the scene to create the mood of doom -- there are even creepy hanging men at the top.
I like it better without the text. Also, It took me a little while to figure out the lower legs of the king. At first glance, I didn't see his lower legs, and he looked like a dwarf. :D
You did a great job embedding atmosphere into this story! Really sells the cinematic moment of loss and life. Lots happening in here to look at, I tried to also emulate the same thing. Super cool render - great work!
