Really innovative idea. Seeing all the boards on the screen at once really fractured my brain, even if there are only 3-4 actual boards (nice design tool btw, allowing the player to zoom in to each board).

The visuals are pretty too. It's amazing how it's just the simplest, most basic of shapes, but combined with lighting, particles, and a good color palette, makes it look so much prettier than some of the things out there. Great presentation overall.

I couldn't finish it (my brain tapped out lol), but the concept is super unique and very well done.

Nice game , the colors were quite nice and I liked the polish but there were some soft locks that were quite annoying lol. solid entry tho!

10/10. Best mechanic and level design I´ve played in a jam game yet. Audio, music and visuals fit perfectly, and the game idea is genius. The difficulty curve is perfectly balanced, and it really drives you forward to complete the game. Congratulations on such a great game. It´s the most fun I´ve had playing a jam game.

Excellent level design, one of the best I've ever seen in a jam! Engaging concept and perfect execution, congrats!!

I'm quite curious about the level design process. You mentioned in a comment that you designed backwards from the solution, maybe you could also comment on how did you choose the mechanics (did you implement any other that didn't make it to the final version?) and how did you go about playtesting to check how hard/easy the puzzles were? Thanks!

PS: it hurts when you don't make it to the leaderboard by just a minute :')

Hi! in terms of the mechanics we kind of just went with normal puzzle mechanics (buttons, moving walls, etc.) and most of the puzzle uniqueness comes from the unique movement mechanics (especially moving along slanted walls, it unlocked so many possibilities). for most levels we just started with a basic conundrum (like for one puzzle to goal is on the left and another its on the bottom ) and then each new part further restrics movement. In terms of playtesting, since there were 2 of us making the puzzles we played eachothers puzzles as a preliminary step, and then as a final sanity check I gave them to my girlfriend to see if they are beatable for an average person :)

Super fun and unique! Awesome puzzles, great audio and visuals look good even if they are simple.

simply awesome! i love the concept, great job!

Wow, what a cool game! I loved the concept. Very challenging and unique. It's the first time I've seen this mechanic. Congratulations!

Wow, a fun puzzle game. Keeping track of all the different layers was a fun challenge to overcome, and seeing how each part of the tringles are used was incredible (didn't really fit the theme, but it was close enough)

Wow, this is super fun! I loved a good and hard puzzle game, and this certainly delivers! My final time is 17:24.91, which I am super proud of. The concept itself is truly unique, and I easily can see it being expanded to a full game! Well done! My only major critique would be a conflict or using or not using the zoom function, which, on one hand, is super helpful when controlling the fourth iteration level, yet keeping an eye on everything at the same time felt mandatory, especially in later levels. Overall, well done!

Other things I like:

  • The simple artstyle, which fits these games quite well
  • Levels and mechanic variations
  • Difficulty progression
  • Fractals
  • Zoom controls hint shown at all times

Suggestions:

  • Though not necessary (and a bunch of steam game don't do this), adding some theme or story would make an already good puzzle game truly excellent and polished
  • It would be fun to see other fractals than triangles

Other than that, I can't find anything to critique honestly, hands down one of my favourite games in the jam

Developer

Wow, thanks for such a detailed comment! One idea we had was allowing the user to drag and drop to change the order of the triangles in order to make the “important” ones bigger or put connected ones next to each-other. That would have certainly helped with the zooming issue but unfortunately we ran out of time. We also played around with different fractal shapes, and even wrote all the necessary code to support it but once again time was an issue. Thanks again for your feedback, it really means a lot!

I loved the game idea, super original. The only thing is that sometimes it was hard to see all the puzzles; I felt like if I zoomed in, I’d lose the info from the others. But still, really cool.

Developer

Hi! I know that can be annoying, but it was an intentional design decision. The player isnt really expected to be looking at all the puzzles at once, but instead carefully plan out the movements by analysing each one. Thanks for playing!

This game made my brain hurt. It's really good, but omg man, I'm overthinking so much! When I saw the mechanic for the first time I got astonished, and I'd got more as the game was passing. I let my mark on the leaderboard, but I don't think I'm gonna improve it, haha.

Impressive game. Great Job!

Wow, not every day you see such a novel concept for a puzzle game. That was really well made, great work! Really made me scratch my head on some of those.

Very interesting and challenging! Congrats!

Genius game. I completed it, but I'm embarrassed to say how long it took. I'll just say that this is the jam game I've spent the most time in. If I replayed it I still wouldn't know how to solve it, and I still don't know how you made the puzzles. If you overlap all the puzzles, it still wouldn't help because all of them can have a different state. I'm just thankful that the recursion didn't exceed 4 times or I wouldn't have made it past the first level.

Developer(+1)

hi! Puzzle design is something we put a lot of thought into, and as with most puzzle games (here especially) the best way is to start from the solution and then work backwards. So for a lot of levels we started with a set of inputs that we want the player to do and then design the level to force that sequence. Each step of the recursion further restricts the possibilities.

I’m really glad you enjoyed the game and completed it!

Wow really cool concept and really great execution. I've never seen a puzzle game like this, and the puzzles are well thought out. Really good job!

Great design, trying to keep track of everything was a lot of fun and it ramped up and down in difficulty nicely.

Very well done. Simple concept executed perfectly. The puzzles were designed very cleverly too

Submitted(+1)

You guys must have been absolute fucking geniuses to make the puzzles! After 22 minutes of playing I got to 6-3 before giving up. I also love both the concept and the execution of it. This is awesome

Developer(+2)

Nah, just math majors xd. But great job on getting to 6-3, dont get too beat up about giving up, levels 6 and 7 were meant to be extra hard

Favorite gameplay so far! It has this perfect balance of feeling both very mindfucky and impossible but still manageable if you put in the time to try it out.  The leaderboard is the cherry on top. Also a good take on strange place. If I had to think about stuff to improve, there's one puzzle where you are hitting a a triangle's point wit the ball, whether it will go right or left feels random, so that felt a bit out of place in an other wise very tightly designed game. Well done :D

Oh, this is a really cool puzzle. I like your game!
