Being a fellow solo dev (though I teamed up for this one), I know how hard it is to build something from zero. Creating such a narrative and world-building on your own is a huge achievement. I absolutely love the story and visuals. Also, the music uses just a few elements to perfectly nail that mysterious winter vibe.
Hope you keep going with this!
I love Arthur, HE gives me wood. :-)
Great idea. If you add more mechanics, it would be a very interesting game.
I have a few ideas to implement mechanics wise. Time constraints were the main issue. Thanks for playing! I’d love to hear what ideas you would have for mechanics!
This is a such a great game especially since you did everything yourself. How did you even have the time to do all of this! Plus the breath of skills required for this. Hats off to you!
Like mentioned otherwise, the controls are a bit hard. I couldn't tell if I have successfully done something or not.
But that would be an easier fix as you keep building on this.
If you make a new build, let me know. Would love to try it out.
Thanks! Under the hood is a mess, but honestly a lot easier to build than I thought. I created all the art first (as that is the part I struggle to implement the most) and then from there it was just building the systems. Last step was adding the art to the systems with sound. I’ve been fortunate to have a wide range of talents to allow me to build games like this myself.
I do plan on continuing this project. I’ll let you know. XD
I can't believe you made this all from scratch! This is seriously impressive. I loved the writing, it really made the game special and the premise is just perfect for a game. Also, the art style is so unique and cool! The music added to the atmosphere a lot, too. My only complaint is that the controls when it came to interacting (like picking up the saplings annd cutting down trees) was a bit clunky and would take a moment to work, which can be terrible when trying to save every second in a chaotic gameplay loop like this.
Great work, I love seeing fully solo devs in jams and this was super impressive. I hope you keep making games! :)
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I started out with just making the art because I wasn’t sure if I was going to submit. Then when I came up with the loop I realized coding wouldn’t be to hard I just went with it. I’ve done a few of the pickup and bring to an area style game, but this one felt the best to build.
Thanks for the feedback on the controls. I couldn't figure out an easier way to make it work so it’s a little clunky. So I just made it work for the time being and I’ll probably revisit it.
