How does the game fit the theme?
You get trapped in a strange place and have to travel through a stranger place to escape. It's all very strange.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Everything is made for the Jam. I made all the art in aseprite. I made the music in GarageBand. There is no game engine, just love and javascript.

How many people worked on the game?

Freedom! I really liked the music!

Love the idea and execution of swapping between the two worlds of underwater and and platforming around spikes. The game is very basic, but considering there's no game engine, really impressive what you made in a week!

Pretty interesting concept. Nice coherent art. The gameplay is a bit simple, but that’s to be expected for a one week game jam :)

Did the torch have some mechanic to it? Or was it just a nice visual addition when under water? That I did not fully get.

Nonetheless a good entry to the jam, and kudos for making this from scratch with only love and JavaScript :D

The torch is just pretty. I was going to make it scare away the angler fish but I ran out of time :)

Good, compact experience.  I liked the double resource management of air and health against spikes and falling.  The narrative, for what it was, was humorous and enjoyable.  The music was a bop.

Well done!

Love this concept! Great job on this one!

It's a very great idea to merge different environments in the same level! Very good concept, great game!

Think the coolest part of this for me was when you go down a decent distance and aren't sure what's waiting for you on the other side when you use the amulet. I think leaning into that idea could make for a really cool game if you do decide to keep building it out!

I found a glitch that when you clip through the walls as the sub you teleport to the top of the map and then you can just walk out instead of getting through the door xD

Was good fun though, good work!

Nice!

Awesome that you made this with no game engine, it's a really cool achievement. Great work!

hello there, this was nice. i like the puzzles and the music was catchy but i noticed one thing, when i tried to stop it by clicking M it did but when i pressed the M again with the idea of turning it on again it didn’t. also when i died after i had the submarine then when i changed to the water i was still in it and i was able to go off map.

but when i look at the fact it is a solo project made in js it’s pretty solid good job :)

I liked the story and the concept of changing the space and the physics to solve the puzzle. Sometimes my keys seemed to get a bit stuck when trying to go directly up, maybe it was the wall but probably more my skills. ':) Awesome game!

Cool platformer, the puzzles are fun.
A few spike hitboxes might need slight adjustments, but overall it’s very solid, especially as a solo project.
Nice job!

Original concept I liked it. Good job it was very fun to play and easy to understand.

Amazing entry. Had fun playing it until the end.

Cool mechanic with swapping the room into that floaty underwater state to solve puzzles. The breathing limitation was a nice touch, too. Not being able to stay underwater forever adds pressure and makes you think about when to swap instead of just abusing it.

Visuals were nice as well. The lighthouse setting worked well with the underwater theme.

Solid concept overall.

I enjoyed the map flipping mechanic in your game! That was a lot of fun!

It was fun to play, really liked the soundtrack and the idea of dimension switching. Kudos for doing it from ground 0 - no engine!

Submitted

+rep. I enjoyed it. Continue in that way

I liked the dimension switching, it fit the theme very well. I did get a glitch at one point where I fell off the edge of the map in the submarine but apart from that, very good!

Developer

Thank you for playing my game! The wall thing is a silly bug, the submarine is wider than the guy so you can clip through the wall when you switch. In the spirit of the game jam I will leave it as it is :)
