How does the game fit the theme?
A racing game in the bloodstream should definitely qualify as a strange place! But also, the main theme of the game, Athero(sclerosis), is the build-up of fat and plaques, cholesterol, etc. in veins. That's a strange place for the body to put these things!
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We did not make the font, the blur shader (yay godotshaders), some of the sound samples are from zapsplat and freesound.org (they're all edited), everything else is handmade

Great game, it reminds me of Death Rally from when I was a kid :)... The sound design and the heartbeat really pull you into the atmosphere.
A cool twist on a racing game. Good Job!
This game is really very fun
Very fun game tbh. It has simple but nice mecanics, and the timer is a concept that works very well for a racing game.
My friend piress played your game before, and he posted his runs here, I just wanna share that my runs were better. The gap was applied.
Feels very polished, but the entire game seemed to break for me at the track called “pulmonary speedway”. The entire game seemed to be going at 10% of its normal speed, the intro animation took more than thirty seconds. Everything moved like that, but the player could spin at a normal speed. From the comments it doesn’t look like this is a known thing so I’ll assume this had only happened to me…
We noticed a bug yesterday where the finish shows a slowmotion effect and when you press next level during that slowmotion effect it will never release it, causing everything to run in slowmotion. Perhaps that happened to you?
Sounds like it was that, no worries. I didn’t take it into account when rating anyway because it didn’t seem to be a problem anyone else was having.
Really cool and interesting premise for a game! I learned something reading the description haha. The game itself is very fun and feels like it would be super rewarding to get good at and figure out how to get the fastest score. Very polished!
I really liked this. Your PB ghost mechanic was solid, get to have a race with yourself and that really adds to the replayability and appeal.
The map/progress implementation was really solid too... if anything the game was just too fast for me and I couldn't get up a good pace and stay away from the edges. I'm not really a twitch style or into racing games tbf, but I did like how polished this was. The PB system I think was the real sweet spot that sells it for me. Kudos to anyone on the team who was involved in that part!!
Congrats to the whole team on the game though. Solid jam entry. Well done.
Ah, my friend, but what if you don't stay away from the edges and instead grind along them with the back of the player? You’d be surprised at the amount of speed that will get you. (maby that wasn't clear from the game :P)
Ooohhh... I have to try that again now.
Ha. And there go my PBs... I was just caught up in the blood pumping pulse and the speed boosts you 'pick up' and hadn't registered the speed gain from the grinding. That is nice!
No worries. It is one of the things we underestimated how counterintuitive it would be for the player. Normally, you are encouraged to stay away from the borders in racing games. Definitely something we could have explained better in the game.
This was so fun and such an interesting use of the theme. I really love the ghost effect and the podium/pb system. I spent so long trying to improve my time. This felt really polished :)
Glad you liked it! Feel free to share your time's with us , we’re curious to see how fast you were!
Can't wait to see 1 second speedruns of every level.
Nice, speedrun community would love such game! Interesting concept on speeding with backsaw. Good job!
Innovative indeed! Love the mechanics.
Seriously good interpretation of the theme and tight execution! I really love the heartbeat mechanic, well done to the whole team
I like the idea and the gameplay is fun, plus it's very well done! It's not my kind of game, but I recognise that it's well made.
The controls were a bit confusing at first, but pretty fun when you get the hang of it!
This is an insanely cool game, I lowkey want to master it now! I sucked at first but getting a hang of it and going super fast was a great feeling. Capilary Run and Carotoid Cavern were for sure the most fun tracks for me. I also loved the detail where the heartbeat is actually in sync with the music
I chatted with mister Kevin and he seems like a cool dude
Just call me Kevin. Mister Kevin is my father
Played through all levels and enjoyed it! I think it would be good if the "speed boost" plagues were somehow indicated ahead of your view so that you didnt need to play through the level once and memorize the placement of them in order for you to know what the "optimal route" is. Mayne like a faint yellow trail or particles in the lane before where the plagues are
Thanks for your feedback. I like the idea of adding a particle trail. I might experiment with that if we continue developing this game.
Played the whole game and I've got to say, it's really fun! The whole concept of a race being inside the bloodstream is very strage, fitted well into the theme. Sadly I'm not very good at racing games but this doesn't mean I didn't enjoyed it overall.
Here's my PBs if anyone want to try beat it!
Hi! Thanks playing the game and sharing your PBs! Im glad to hear you enjoyed the game! Hopefully you started a trend and more people will follow and share their PBs!
This is such a great interpretation of the theme! Loved all the attention to detail in the game design also like how the start is a injection into the blood and then the player is propelled by the hearts beats. Would be really cool to see or have a heads up where those plaque deposits are ahead of the player so that they can be informed and try to aim for them for the speed boost. Thank you for sharing!
Original, very original. I really loved the idea. The camera movement, the mini map and the control fell great together. The art for the vein was super well done. I'm impress by the amount of work done in only one week. Great game guys, I'm sure you will do well in this jam.
truly lovely
