Really unsettling game to play (meant as compliment).   I really like how the scenarios can range from completely benign like getting your foot wet to something much stranger.

It seemed a little too easy to triangulate the position, each time I played I got there before I was able to interact but not sure how to make it harder.  Also not sure how to find all the endings.  I played a few times and only managed to find two.

Thanks for the kind words!

I agree that difficulty is hard to parse for a game jam. I intended for this to be a 5 minute game (at most) and I think I hit that target.

The ending will change depending on whether you found the signal with a minimal number of bearings or with a lot of bearings. Each possibility offers two choices, for a total of four endings.

I can see you've got both "too hard" and "too easy" comments which means you must be bang on with the difficulty.  And I guess I'll have to try the scenic path next time to see if I can get all the endings, thanks.

This is pretty well made and original. Im curious how do you make the oscillating wave pattern to simulate as signal.

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

The oscilloscope signal is just a Line2D object that gets its points updated every frame. The signal is made of two parts - one simple sine wave with a fixed amplitude and a second sine wave with an amplitude tied to the volume of the audio signal.

I really don't know what to say about this, I really really like it and can't think of constructive feedback :) I'll add it to my favorites of this jam. thanks so much for uploading!

Developer

Wow, that's so kind of you to say. Thank you!

This is such a unique game. It was very intriguing and I tried my best to find the spot but I couldn't. I had the whole island explored. I just couldn't figure out where to go. I was in the top right area of the island.

But that might a skill issue. I think I explored the whole island before I figured out I needed to turn on the radio. I thought I am just not getting any signal.

Great game. I would love some improvements like allowing to move more than one tile because it was annoying to click every tile.

Good luck :)

Developer

That's an interesting idea. I wonder how pathfinding would work on an irregular grid like this. It would be a real challenge to code! Maybe this will be a project for my next jam...

Great submission! The audio and graphics tied together really well and had me hooked! The photographs and colour/art style were also great.

I had a bit of trouble personally finding where to go haha and ended up clicking around till all tiles were on screen then clicking back around and turning the radio on but likely a skill issue :')

Congrats on your great entry! :)

Developer

Thank you! I'm very pleased with how the minimalist art style worked on this game. It's also a lot easier to make!

I finally got around to try this one, I knew I wanted to since I saw your progress on Discord. Overall, it felt like a simple, but polished game. Simple, as in there aren't too many parts to consider, but the gameplay itself was quite unique, I always like to learn some new concepts through games. The art style, colors, audio resulted in a mysterious and tense atmosphere, which was further reinforced by the little creepy messages you get at locations. I also loved that you used your own photos for that. It was also nice to try out an interactive voronoi map in practice, I'm also fiddling with these methods for a citi-based game I'm working on, but so far I did not get the results I'm looking for, at least not consistently.

Edit: one thing I missed after the tutorial is that I have to turn on the radio to get signals, and I was running around the map aimlessly, but that's probably on me.

Thanks for the kind words.

I have links to the voronoi code in the game description. It's a great jumping off point if you want to make something similar.

very unique experience. i tried it yesterday but i was too dumb to get the triangulation just right, i tried again today and it was smooth sailing (no pun intended xD), beat with only 2 radio waves.

Developer

Nice, the minimalist ending! That’s hard to do, and the only one that leads to escape.

Short but sweet. The colors set the tone and let the atmosphere really shine. Controls are really tight and responsive as well.

Developer

Thank you. Here’s a little secret - I looked up the “colours of the year” and just used those. I trust the experts.

Really enjoyed this one, the graphics work really well together!

Thank you! I'm very pleased with how the minimalist colour pallette worked on this one.

Wow in terms of uniqueness and just overall ambience, I really enjoyed this game! I would love to see how much more story can be added to this to add to the mystery and game play if this gets expanded! Great submission! congrats on finishing!

Developer

Thank you very much! This was my first "walking sim", and there's a lot that could be expanded upon.

loved the "it was you all along" ending

Developer

I didn't plan on that ending. It just came to me while I was writing.

You nailed the vibe here. Well done on the audio mixing, too. It really helped sell the triangulation mechanic.

Developer

Thank you! I’m very pleased with how the audio turned out on this one. It’s usually been an afterthought, but it was the focus of this project.

This was cool! I enjoyed the triangulation dynamic a lot.

Developer

Thank you! That was the first bit I got working and I was very pleased with the mechanic.

Is there an options menu for this, I would love to play further but I had to mute it almost immediately due to the static sound being so loud and ever-present, seems like a really cool idea and I found the gameplay and graphics with the photographs quite interesting, really needs volume options though! unless I just couldn't find them

Developer

No volume knob, sorry.
