The glitching effect made well, artstyle is also good and leveldesign is interesting sometimes. Everything else is either average either bad. Especially hitboxes and swimming mechanic. Hitboxes should be a lot smaller even a 3-4 pixel touch equals death. Swimming mechanic is also not good. Looks like you just erased ground checking mechanic and made gravity a bit smaller. You should at least give player ability to hold W to swim, not just spamming it. Also sounddesign is poorly made. At first I really disliked the jump sound and incredibly high volume without any access to lower it. Also it's actually like only 3 sounds: jump, water jump? and death, you should at least add some water sounds when you jump to it, walk sounds and maybe some music. The art here is interesting but I cant say it's actually something special because of its simplicity
Well everything was made from scratch, so good work, I think
Thank you for playing. If I update the game in the future, I’ll look into making the hitboxes a bit smaller and adding more sound effects.
im biased because im a huge fan of videogame glitches but this is still a really cool game
I’m so glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!
Howww are people seeing where they are allowed to jump? xD
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Very simple and effective platformer. Love how chaotic it can get, in a good way!
Thanks for playing!
What I liked:
- The water was really slick and well done. I was surprised with how simple the game started when the water was so responsive
- The art style was so cool and interesting. You were very consistent and it was clear you were intentional about all the art in the game
- The level reset animation was sooooooo good
What I thought could be improved:
- I think my main issue with the game is that it was really hard to tell what was what after the glitching started. Ultimately, with time, I was able to carve a path out for myself but with everything looking so similar, it was really hard to parse what was important and what was just noise. It felt like the challenge wasn't platforming or puzzle solving, but visually determining what was relevant on screen.
Thanks for playing! I agree that the terrain after the glitch is hard to see. However, I'm not sure how to highlight each one...
Idk what the best option would be but like, Red for danger, blue for water, just something to get a sense of where I am would've been great!
This was a cool platformer to play through! Some of the later levels were challenging in a really good way. Nice job!
thank you!
Congratulations! It was fun. Level 3 was a bit complicated :) But overall I liked the level designs/visual art. Simple, clean, and fun.
Thanks for playing!
This was a fun challenge! It was cool that the exact same levels look so different each time.
thank you!
Cool game! I did find that the sound effects were a bit too high-pitched, so I had to turn them down a bit. I like the graphic transitions and I think this game fits well with the theme.
Thanks for playing! Sorry about the volume.
I probably died like a million times, but other than that, it was still really enjoyable xD
Oh dear… it may have been a bit too hard.
I really like how the game starts as just a plat-former, nothing strange here and then switches. It was challenging, but fun. I also like the simple black and white graphics.
It would be cool if the the player could use the water to swim from one side of the map to another, a bit like a small teleport, which would add to the challenge. (Just a suggestion, I hope it makes sense)
Overall a simple, but great game.
Thanks for playing! I decided not to include teleporting from one edge to the other because it started to feel too much like a puzzle. (Just kidding—it’s because it was a hassle.)
Simple but very good!
Loved trying to guess what the path willl be to the flags, and water was very well done also
Also loved the animation to change to the strange !
Good job!
thank you!
This is one of those simple games that excels at the theme and the atmosphere. And while it's a simple platformer i enjoyed the controls and the vibes.
8/10 :D
Yay thank you
I love that the visual clutter is part of the level design. If you stripped all that away and just left the obstacles and goal it would be a simple platformer, but with all the extra graphics and lettering, it is challenging. I liked this one a lot. Well done!
Thank you!
Well that certainly escalated haha, charming platform that is totally normal, until it isn't! Nicely done as it adds a complexity and challenge that isn't too over the top. Thanks for sharing!
thank you!
cute little game that got complicated lol, love it
Thank you!
Loved how the levels kept getting stranger! Nice and smooth platformer experience! Good job.
Thank you!
Nice little platformer game!
thank you!
My journey... Oh this just another platform.. oh cool there's water thats new.... what the f.... Really really nice concept, and use of the theme. I would have enjoyed a little more margins for errors when hitting spikes, but other than that, very much enjoyed the chaos and logic behind that perceived chaos.
Thank you! I made the hitbox a little smaller, but it might still have been too big.
this made my head hurt a bit (in a good way, of course)
Hehehe
