How does the game fit the theme?
The game takes place in a candy society, an unusual setting where the player, enemies, and bosses are all sugar-themed characters. The entire world is built around this idea, so every encounter fits the theme. We wanted to contrast something sweet and colorful with fast, challenging combat. It’s cute on the surface, but the fights are no joke.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Most of the music was composed by our team’s composer. Due to time constraints, a small portion of the background music was sourced externally. Most sound effects (combat hits, UI sounds, etc.) were also sourced externally and lightly edited in Audacity. All gameplay code, mechanics, sprites, animations, and boss systems were created from scratch and are designed to be reusable.

The art is so simple but beautiful, everything just works.
Wow, I really enjoyed the art! Always nice to see an options menu. The main thing I thought could be improved was the feeling of moving around and jumping could have been a bit tighter. Great job!
Very good, the animations are very clean and the gameplay as well. Very polished!
I really loved this it was such a cute and girly game which is refreshing. Great job and im so impressed by what you guys did :)
Very well made, entertaining game
Woah!!, I gotta give it up for this platformer! It’s really well-made overall, especially the enemies and bosses. All the mechanics feel polished and the game feel is spot on. The music and art are spectacular! Long story short, I really enjoyed it. Nothing else to say but congrats. Great job!
Woah! This is certainly one of my favorite entries thus far
This game has that incredible vibe of big Flash games, and I absolutely love it. Everything here works perfectly together: music, sounds, fighting mechanics and visuals.
The only problem here for me was dash. With default layout, it's located in a very inconvenient place to use it. Because of that, I kept forgetting that it even exists and failing parkour segments.
Anyways, that's a very good project. I'm a big fan! If you'll publish it on Steam, I'll be happy to wishlist it!
This game is amazing, i cant say anything else. wow
im realizing i am sooo not good with arrow keys instead of wasd!! haha. loved the animations and super cute art style.
Thanks for playing! By the way, you can customize the controls in the Options menu on the main screen (it’s mentioned in the description as well). Thanks again!
For some reason it kicked me out while I was mid tutorial, I think its an issue with godot for web, not with your game though. I won't rate the game out of fairness but from what are saw, the graphics are really cute and there's a lot of personality in every aspect of the game. My only criticism would be that it isn't polished enough, but its understandable for a game made in a week, well done and I hope it actually lets me play soon :(.
(Update, I came back a few minutes later and it worked! The games really well laid out, but I did get a glitch where I died to an enemy in the boss win screen. Overall though I had a blast, well done on making a cool game!)
Hello, thanks for playing! Unfortunately, the jam no longer allows me to upload further fixes. If you’re unable to play the web version, you can download the Windows build near the bottom of the game page instead. Thanks again!
If i had one word to describe this game it would be polish. For a game jam we only had a week to complete you guys made an incredible game, and probably my favourite of the jam. Alot of people are mentioning the atmosphere but really I loved how you could feel the impact of the attacks in the game. I feel like the only criticism i cold give is that you cant attack right after landing and i wish there was a reward for killing enemy's like candy or something like that. Great game
What's going on with this awesome cupcake like platformer, such an awesome job! congratulations
I played this and read through your comments and I'm just like, WHAT?!? This might be the best game of the whole jam. I leave detailed feedback for every game I play and I include what I liked, what I thought could be improved, and what I found confusing. Literally here's my list
What I liked:
- The menu page rocked. The feel, animations, sfx just made me go, damn, this game I'm about to play is gonna be really solid
- The big attack was SLICK. I love that there's a light and a heavy attack and it was executed so well
- Background art and the comedy in general was soooooo good. The game is so fun and funny!
- The enemy art was so clean. The clown ragdoll in the tutorial was unbelievable. I would love to know what software your artist uses and any tips they might have haha, it looked incredible. Literally reminded me of the clean art style of Hollow Knight which is crazy.
- The music shredded. I also had all original music and SFX in my game and it took sooooo much work. Kudos to you guys for having so much original content!
- When I died I was like, ugh, I'm gonna have to start all the way back but the checkpoints were very well placed and fair I thought. Maybe could use a little more of them but not a huge issue, you get a good amount of health
- The boss fight?!? That was so well designed and fun. It took me a minute to remember that I can dodge but I went ham on them.
- When I jumped on one of those floating platforms and it started shaking, I knew that it was gonna fall if I stayed too long. That is great visual feedback for me as the player and I noticed multiple places where I thought "if I hit this, it'll fall" or "don't stand here too long," etc.
What could've been improved:
- My only real complaint is that the controls were a bit tough but I don't even think that's your fault. There was just a lot of them for a mildly fast paced keyboard game. I think if I had a controller, this would've been easy.
Overall, this game was incredible. Great job you guys! Really excellent work. I vored Jawbreaker Julia, 10/10
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback!
If you're curious about the animation and art, it was a combined effort between our artist (@HyperCandyChan) and me. We both played very important roles throughout the development. The drawing tools we used are simply personal preference. What really matters is the animation and motion techniques behind them.
More specifically, our artist created all the sprite artwork and sprite sheets in Clip Studio Paint, building the strong visual foundation. I enhanced the sprite sheets by adding elements like in between frames, squash and stretch, exaggeration, and other animation techniques to make the motion feel more fluid and impactful. I also applied these tricks directly inside Godot using subtle engine based adjustments like rotation and scaling between frames to add bounce and dynamism without redrawing every frame. It is a hybrid approach that blends traditional sprite work with in engine animation.
Most of the animation work is grounded in the 12 Principles of Animation; they are classic and universal techniques that apply to any workflow, especially when working with sprite sheets. It is fairly traditional, but also very flexible since sprite based animation can be imported into nearly any engine without worrying about file type limitations that sometimes come with 3D or bone based animation pipelines.
Thanks again for playing and for the thoughtful review!
This is incredible! I love how vibrant the visuals are, and the dialogue is very charming! The challenging boss fights are also great! Awesome job to the team!
The game plays really well, I had a lot of fun with it. I love the death pose haha. It was a really good time, the dialogue an world was very entertaining and funny. Great work!
Fantastic entry! The art and world building were great, and the last boss was fun. A nice amount of good game feel.
I like the graphics in the game, but the controls are very inconvenient, but other than that, it's cool!
Thanks so much for playing! You can customize the controls in the Options menu, feel free to adjust them to whatever feels most comfortable for you. Thanks again!
I didn't notice, thanks for the information. It's rare for settings to be added to jams, but it's cool :)
Good game! Nice visual, but i dont like that attack was on X, very not convenient. Our game is also about a little girl
Thanks a lot for the feedback, we’re happy you liked the visuals!
You can change the keyboard layout in the Options menu and set it up however you prefer.
WOW THATS IS REALLY GREAT! Everything is so good, the mechanics, the art is awesome. I really enjoy the gameplay! Congratulations!
A lot of content and good content. You deliver on the style you chose and even if it's not my cup of tea it's very well made. The platformer elements are well executed and everything is quite polished. Congrats on the great entry!
