Love the reflection mechanic, it's a fun way to implement the theme ✨
As other mentioned, snowballs need a little bit improvement to block the spamming problem.
Good job 😊❄️✨

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your advice, i will implement that.

Big fan of the "reflect" mechanic! Maybe the spamming problem can be solved by giving snowballs some sort of weight so that it can fall and hit the ground. But otherwise, I had a blast playing it!

Developer

Yeah, I think that would be a good idea. When I first designed the mechanic, the plan was for the reflect to send the snowball back and deal 100% damage. But like you said, it’s better if there’s only a small chance to actually hit the enemy with their own snowball. It would make it more challenging to land the hit when the enemy is closer to you. Thanks for the tip! I’ll add this and see how much I like it. 😊

A cute little game, congrats ! As others mentioned, the snowballs could be spammed at the beginning of the level to clear it, that said, i was laughing through the whole level because of the silliness of the defeated kids looking like actual dead bodies just from a few snowballs x)

Congratulations for making it to release !

I saw it was your first gamejam experience so i hope u enjoyed your participation :D

Your game is great, i have a few advice if u wanna improve it, first of all i feel like the snowballs you can throw never gets affected by graviry, so spamming at the start just clears the whole game.

Otherwise great job on the animations and SFX, its a great game you made !

Thanks for your advice.😊

This game reminded me of my childhood. It lacks visual expression, as you've already noted in other comments. As far as I understand, this is your first game jam. For a first jam, this is a very good result. I wish you good luck in future jams. If you have a minute, please look at my snowman's eyebrows. This is also my first jam, and I would love to hear some criticism.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the constructive feedback! I wish you the best of luck in your future jams as well. I’ve learned a lot from this experience, and I hope it’s been just as rewarding for you. I’ll definitely check out your game and leave a comment!

What a cute game! I love seeing how much enjoyment you had in the jam and think that really translated into the lighthearted, nostalgic fun of the snowball fight. The sprites are really cute with the scarf and throwing animation. I think doing an environment sprite “fade” when you’re behind big piles of snow to more clearly show what the character is doing would be great in adding clarity to movement. Also perhaps some light snowfall effects to add more atmosphere? ^^

Developer(+1)

I actually had more fun working on the animations than writing the code! I was a bit short on time, but I really wanted to add more frames for smoother movement.

Regarding the snow piles, I kept them opaque on purpose so enemies could hide for a moment, but I like the idea of keeping the player visible, maybe just as an outline, similar to Stardew Valley. I’ve already started a checklist of features I want to implement, and I hope I'll find the time to get through them soon!

As an artist and programmer too I completely get how you feel! Getting lost in making animations is so much fun (and always more time consuming than expected ahaha). The Stardew Valley style outline for the player is exactly what I was imagining! It does make sense to give enemies some cover. Good luck with implementing additional features post jam :3

I like the animations in this game. The only thing is it might be better to unlink the camera when jump to see what on the ground.

Developer

I'll get this fixed! Thanks for playing my game

There was this flash game back in the day that this game really reminds me of...

Nice work, however I was able to kill everyone even when the enemies where off screen by just throwing snowballs occasionally as I moved forward. Maybe make it so the snowball doesn't persist beyond the player's screen and it will make the game more challenging. Otherwise, good work on your first jam.

Developer

I noticed this issue when it was already too late, and I was hoping no one would catch it😏. After the voting period ends, I’ll upload a build with a more complete version and without these problems. Thank you for playing my game.

I think the position of camera is too high. But nice work :)

Developer

“I intentionally placed the camera higher because I made the floor too small, and lifting the camera kept the broken floor from being visible. I should have made the ColorRect wider so I could keep the camera lower. I also noticed there’s too much empty space at the top. Thanks for the feedback and for playing my game!
