Incredible, I loved it! The game is so good, easily in my top 3! Congrats to you!
WOW! Just...WOW. Loved everything about this.
Feedback: PLEASE KEEP MAKING VIDEO GAMES. Holy shit. Take my rate. I'd give you more if i could lol
I really enjoy watching horror gameplays rather than playing it, but still such a cool game, had to leave the game in mid cause of my sanity won't allow me to play further.
cheers, Silent Comet
I liked everything about the game but I couldn't really get what I had to do
Hats off you, sir.
THIS ONE is my favourite so far, and I don't think anything is going to beat it. It's so interesting to see how different our games are while we do share a lot of assets. I gotta say, it was a blast. The atmosphere you build up is insane. And honestly the amount of the mechanics you crammed in? how the hell did you manage to do that? you have the regular interactions with items, picking them up and using for specific puzzle pieces. But also cassettes? (listened to all of them btw) The hole hunger/sanity system? the cursed item mini game??? and the sanity effect was so fucking cool. I feel like I'm fangirling here.
I honestly don't have any criticism. MAYBE for the jam's sake you could make the shotgun spawn earlier. cause jammers don't know how big the game is, they might assume the picking the items is all there is.
I never worked in a team for a jam. But man if you're ever up for another jam I feel like we could make something cool. My entry for this jam is way more narrative focused but I think games I made for past jams tried to do similar thing, and I also do godot.
This was great
5/5
this is really nice, the smooth controls, the nice art and creepy world, all of it is really well done plus this really fits the theme well
Good job! Loved the art and the theme!
I managed to finish it, pretty cool short game. I really like the crunchy visuals and the eerie atmosphere. Also, I feel the level fits really well with the Strange Places theme, although I think there is more 'room' for polish when it comes to assets. I'm not sure if I discovered everything, because I didn't see the rotating map thing from the screenshots (might have been on some computer screen?). Very cool effect for the hallucinations/static distortion/anomaly corruption thing. I think this has the potential for future development and an eventual full release and I would have some suggestions for improvements such as: better ambience with more and better mixed sounds and random noises and maybe a second line of dialogue to let the player know that there are things happening if you keep hitting your quota. On that second note, when I played I didn't realise I should keep pulling the levers to meet the quota and I would say a second audio line would indicate something different might occur if I keep playing. Also, very cool idea with the cassette player. Overall, you have the better 'Decay' game. Good job!
Thanks! I was definitely hoping to do a lot more with the audio, but I didn’t realize how long decorating the space and programming all the gameplay systems would take.
That second voice line is something I though about and totally would’ve been worth doing for exactly the reasons you mentioned.
Also, the rotating map thing was not in the game. I added that gif to the page after as I felt there were still lots of people who didn't realize there was more to this game than just the control room. It's just a map of the facility.
Extremely impressive entry, although I do wonder if the nature of the gameplay eventually wears the strangeness of the place thin.
I loved this game so much. It's so eery. The visuals are great and it's very enjoyable to play
Such a fun creepy experience. I loved problem solving and collecting different items. Took me a bit but i made it throough to the end. I found it very eerie. Feel like there was probably so many little things hidden that I didn't find. Might have to go back and listen to all the cassettes. The map felt like I turned a corner and it just kept going. Overall really cool vibe and love the effects.
Cool
Great game that creates the tension but I feel a bit confused playing the game even though i did managed to get out of the control room. Then im not sure what to do next. I tried jumping into the lava pit but nothing happens too. Throwing everything from the control room into the lava pit doesnt seem to trigger anything too.
Thanks for the feedback!
Did you find the door to the supply room?
I should definitely add an Easter egg for people who throw all the control room items into the lava, any ideas?
Oh I didn't find the door to the supply room. Would love to have some visual indicators or guidances as player might get confused on what to do next. Will definitely give it a shot later after work. For the Easter egg, well I have no idea too xD.
the audio was a bit crunchy, I liked the cassette tapes, and resource management aspects. the atmosphere could use some improvements maybe some ambient noises. the hiding of "hallucinations" in the static was a nice touch and i genuinely though I was seeing things the first time. I get the feeling there might be another ending I could get if I didn’t fill up the tank.
average score 4/5
I’m so glad the hallucinations worked!! I spent so long tuning that shader to look/feel just right.
I really enjoyed the tension in the game. You’re constantly on edge wondering if something will happen. I have to admit, I didn’t manage to get out of the control room :C
Fantastic atmosphere!
Hi, this game's pretty neat. I love the eeriness of the visuals and sound design. I do think the gameplay loop could be worked on though, I found there was no reason to change the camera and it looks like you didn't finish the item models which makes it quite easy to tell what's cursed. Overall though I enjoyed it and would be excited to see where it goes with a little bit more time!
Hi, did you make it out of the control room? There is a whole lot more to explore!
I did see the door with the rusty lock, what item do you need to break it because all the items I tried failed?
There is an item that appears after you meet the quota a few times that works on the door.
