How does the game fit the theme?
Aesthetics weren't enough for us. I Swear There Was A Door features a procedural dungeon system that is constantly overwriting itself. The goal was to create a game where even the places you've been to before feel strange and unfamiliar. Turn back to a previous room, and it might not be the same as you left it! Hence, the name: "I Swear There Was A Door." We hope our game elicits the same response you have as when you swear there was a door.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
None.

Hey getting some last minute ratings in! I've been looking for a non euclidean game this whole jam, and this is the closest I've found! nice art and atmosphere, I think the concept is super solid. If I had one nit pick its that the gun feels kinda weak, like it's not really doing much, but that purely aesthetic. overall nice job, I was hoping someone would make a game like this.
Great art and cool music, easy to understand and fun experience overall. One thing that would be nice is some kind of bullets when shooting.
I really liked the character and the way he holds the ak. Also really good work with the elevator and giving the player the understanding how everything works without any explanations! Overall a nice experience.
Nice visuals and it actually did a good job with the procedural room mechanism that brings the feeling that the last door you just entered might not be the same when you came back to the previous door sometimes. I do feel like the layout of the "next room" and spawning of the enemies can be a bit unfair, as sometimes the door just teleport me a the weird corner next to a doorway that had me stuck and there can be 3 enemies spawned too close to me that it's impossible for me to escape and shoot, lead to soft locks or game over.
But still, nice to see that procedural dungeon can be done like this in a week!
Very cool idea, and well executed! Great job.
Thank you for making this game. I had fun. Very well-made, polished game, and I can see the programmer knows what he is doing. Some tips for the future. Camera shake when firing gives the guns ummfff. Hit stops (Google hit stops) add a lot more juice when taking damage. Otherwise, your scene controller is very well made. I enjoyed it a lot.
Nice game. Love the music and visuals, however, some more sounds except gunshots would be nice. Took a while to figure out how to earn money on 1 level :D
Love the gameplay, really cool and funny
nice game but i think i encountered a bug. after unlocking the second stage where the first enemies spawn i entered the elevator and as i went out i was in a room with only one exit. this exit led me to another room with no exit so i just had these 2 rooms to go back and forth between :/
other then this i think the enemies hitbox could have been a bit more forgiving and a pause menu with a slider to adjust volume would have been great!
Still had fun, and i really enjoyed the pixel art style gameworld!
Full adrenaline!! Every new level felt exciting, good bridge using elevator in between. The music & artsyle slapped hard
Very fun game! That was super cool, and I totally got lost over and over. Great job
