I'm entirely clueless what's going on in this game, but I absolutely love the style! The visuals are very fitting for the environment. These are the scariest fake pngs I've ever seen xD
Good job on that one! Hope to see your games in next jams

How does the game fit the theme?
This game places the player in a surreal world where the environment looks like it is out of a child's pop-up book. It is indeed a very strange place.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
4 audio tracks and a jump scare scream.
Details included in the credits on the main menu.
The unity Starter Asset First Person Controller was also used.
How many people worked on the game?2

OMG spooky spooky. I did it in first attempt. What is shmabadook btw? any way good job.
Wabadook? Yabadook? Shamabadook? No... that's not it.
Amazing game! Every part of it felt so polished. The theme and ambience was spot on, and the animations were super interesting, especially with the staircase. Great job!
amazing game !! the game really feels like a children’s pop up book, I would love a full game like this !
Oh my gosh this was great. The atmosphere was so tense with all the whispering around me and the characters popping up, and I love the 2.5D art style. The trees folding up around me was a great effect, and the stairs were a really cool surprise as well when I figured them out.
I did get VERY lost for a bit (full disclosure I was panicking and I'm sure I was doing things strangely and out of order). I think it may have frozen on me at the end (I had gotten the page on the second level last and was walking out of the doorway that had previously been blocked), but that may have been because I was flailing around like scared toddler and went very off-book.
Good job, and congratulations on a great jam! I'm gonna sleep with the lights on.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a long and kind review! If you panicked and not sure you did it right, then we did our job well lol When you went out the back door and froze, it should've triggered the winning screen. So you didn't freeze and miss anything else. But thanks for the heads up! now to figure out why it froze.......
I love how you made the trees pop up as you get to the edge of the map, as well as how the stairs appear. Pretty scary environment, keeps you on edge the whole time. Gameplay reminds me of Slender. I got through on the first try, not sure if you can get caught in the end and I'm not willing to find out :) Great job making this!
That was a super great game. Really immersive and horrifying. I was a little confused by the bridge that lead to nowhere though.
The environment popping up like paperis definitly a novel idea. I also liked how you implemented the staircase.
That was AWESOME!!! The art style is amazing. The animated scenery was genius. Love it! I would definitely play a longer version of this game.
One of my favorites from the jam!
Just a note: I was able to grab the higher page from the floor before I got to the platform, don't know if that is intentional.
Great visual solution, and its application in the gameplay as well, I'll make a note of your idea with the 2D in 3D implementation, you guys are cool =)
I adore the art style and the pop-up effect that plays on the trees and stairs, extra points for the about section on the game's page as well
