yes, i feel like you should join, so you can practice a decent amount

it kinda depends if you have time to work on the team and how much you know about making a game, but anyway I would encourage you to try participating in the jam, there are a lot of nice, very talented people willing to help and a lot of time to work for a game jam. Also after doing 4 jams I can confidently say this will almost 100% improve your game making abilities and understanding of how games are made
