Really well done game, my only gripe is that I had no idea stuff spawned on tables so I went around aimlessly for a while, the sex scene at the end is really well animated too, good job!
I love the esthetic style a lot! Nice models and animations, the map is wayyy too big and some objects like matches and berries are a nightmare to find ( On the tables for those reading the comments for hints ). Overall really cool game, was a joy to play.
Super cool style and atmosphere reminiscient of Voices of the Void which I love. A lot of great 3d animations - even just including the capture scene itself - as a reward for all that hard work, way more than I was expecting which was really really cool.
I greatly appreciate that being caught isn't an instant loss, but the monster has a habit of chain grabbing you whiile scouting for those tricky last few spots. The shovel dig spot and the ritual stone together probably took me as long as the rest of the game combined lol.
i don't have enough time to play out a lot of entries like they should be but glad to see it got finished and always nice to see higher dimension count, personal aesthetic :) sound design (birds and footsteps for me) nice.
really nice work, I liked it a lot. reminds me of slender, but it's a lot more forgiving, and it's way better than just pages. I'm glad it isn't an instant game over if you're caught.
You've made the biggest immersive 3D world of any Strawberry Jam game that I can remember! The default walking speed feels a bit slow for how large the woods are, but I like the clean interface that allows for full immersion. The art style and audio ambience fit the mood perfectly! I didn't play it all the way through, the night section's too long and spooky for me, but I can definitely see this being appealing to horror fans!
i played what i could [i can't do horror lol] and i enjoyed it. The character design is GREAT and the atmosphere is eerie. i got lost pretty frequently but that's probably just a skill issue lmao
thanks for trying it atleast!
The art style is solid and the atmosphere is spooky. I did find myself getting disoriented and lost often, even with the map and the tree moss, especially near the end when I was constantly being caught by the monster and getting turned around. The sex scene at the end was very nice, and I enjoyed all of the different positions and camera controls. It does make me wish that the rest of the game had more of those horny elements outside of the ending.
thanks! I would've tried to tie in more horny elements form the main part of the game, I just was having trouble figuring out where, and how they'd be initiated.
Generally I agree with what others have said about the pacing and time it takes to complete. I do love the 3D pixel style, and it does nail that nice indie horror vibe. I really like the pov when you get grabbed, that was pretty hot. I also really liked the ending, though I had my fingers crossed for some... corruption let's say. But I'm a monster TF guy so I can only hope.
Critique aside from pacing: I think the map is too bright. I kept getting flashbanged when I would pull it up while hiding in the dark. To be fair, I shouldn’t have tried to play this with a migraine, oof ouch. And it’s a small detail, but I would avoid calling it a wendigo. The term is generally misused and misappropriated, and you wouldn’t really be losing anything by omitting it.
I actually tried to leave what the creature is more open ended. the only time it's called a wendigo is in the note when whoever wrote it said "I think its a wendigo." I wanted to develop this thing into its own kind of species/creature.
As for corruption, I did originally have an idea of the player turning into one at the end, but it didn't really make sense for what I have in mind for this creature.
If there is horny I havent seen it and I spend an entire hour of game.
Even when the wendygo lost it's horror factor, I am using 250% of my brainpower to detect north and locate intersections in the map.
An exelent game that I will definitely revisit.
if you havent figured it out, some trees have moss, and all the moss grows towards north
Yeah, but when I try to see where the moss is pointing and aligning it with where the milestones are, and flip it for the use of the map to reference I get turned arround.
It seems like using a map in the dark while stressed is not my forte.
But I really enjoyed the experience and will submit myself to it, in the spirit of self inprovement.
This is an amazing horror game, I haven’t really seen that many MalO game’s like this. Please keep up the good work, all I have to say is hopefully you will revamp the game, and make more parts to it!
Also the map, itself is really good, especially the atmosphere it’s just that, I think it would be best if you made the player run a little bit faster, or make the map smaller. Another thing, this is just a suggestion, well all that I have said at least in this paragraph.
Cool to see a horror game here, gotta admit I genuinely got scared the first time she caught me, because she doesn't make a single sound. Although, I had almost all the items when she first appeared, so I let my guard down because I thought it was a bug or something.
The map is way too large though, and the stamina bar doesn't replendish fast enough. At the end of the game, i didn't have enough stamina to outrun her so I got caught over and over again until I gave up. There should be an audio or visual cue whenever the monster appears, so that the player knows when its safe to save on stamina after a chase.
But apart from that, it's a pretty cool game. I dig the low poly aesthetic and the girl is cute. Need more stuff like this :)
yeah, I should've added more cues. I also don't think I really conveyed this too well, but you could hide in the bushes if you are just far enough away from her and you turn off your flashlight.
Ah ok, cool. I think I'll give it another try tomorrox, this game's pretty fun :)
A proper horror game amongst the other hornier games is quite fun, although it does feel somewhat of a slog to play - if the sprint meter was either removed or replenished faster, and if the map was compressed down by about 20-30%, it'd play a lot better I feel. The concept is really good though, even if it has very little NSFW in it from what I can tell. It's really got potential!
yeah, I was trying to balance normal travel and chases so that you can't just out run the cryptid all the time, I'll probably increase the stamina replenish after the jam voting ends
In one word.. Scary. It's a cool game because of the small moments, like the main menu in sheets of paper, or the intense atmosphere of horror.
yeah, I didn't realize how scary it actually was until I really played it the other day. I kept getting gcaught off gaurd by the sounds she makes when she appears close to you.
