I loved the controls and the presentation, so smooth and well thought out. The overall aesthetics were great and the different horse sprites were very nice. Very enjoyable little game :)
I really liked that :)
it’s super cute, and it was genuinely fun trying to puzzle out what each horse wanted. The sound effects are a nice touch too. The little story bits had me cracking up (the mating/sold stuff especially)
Love the art style! Fun trying to figure out what the horses needed!
The sound effects were nice as well! Good job!
Looks sooo good, very interesting mechanics !
Awesome! Just when I thought I had enough, the stories startet unfolding. Like that mating bit was a hillarious idea, as well as one getting sold. But I kept getting mixed signals from the White horse, and sometimes I had to brute force and try all the combinations . But the story kept me going anyways. Very cool.
Thanks for playing!
What mixed signals did you get from the white horse? Was it the grazing / mating / snoozing text? Or the feedback hungry / too full texts?
Also, do you have a rough idea of how long it took to finish the game?
I have no Idea where I got stuck afterall. Could finish the game with no problems at all. And It took like 6 Minutes without reading the Dialog or book (my second time playing)youtu.be/aIUSJo8fGXA
Thanks for the info! And huge thanks for taking the time to record a video, that's super helpful!
Checking through it now, will type as I watch.
So yea that was my thoughts watching that. I do very much understand the confusion about the texts. I'll try to communicate better in my next game. And again, thanks for the feedback!
Also, did you read anything in the manual during your first playthrough?
no, I just checked really quick what the two foods are but nothing more.
I love that you developed it in PICO-8!
Thank!
PICO-8 is by far my most "guilty pleasure" tool for game making, it's just so satisfying to use, and it's so damn fast to get something done with it. Sprite? Yea just click off for a second, write a line of code and boom it's there. I can't stand the integrated editor after having gotten used to all the shortcuts on nvim, so I'm importing an external lua file into pico, which I then edit with nvim.
Thanks for giving it a try!
