Howdy mods!
I wanted to ask in here before I got cracking away at this in case this is a non starter at the get go. I know this is a "classic" Rougelike jam, but it also encourages innovation. Concept is below, let me know what you think!
Title: Pocket Dimension
Idea: Pool/Billiards, but rougelike
- Player gets a single shot, then enemies/environment goes (Turn based)
- After you clear the room, choose your exit (Different Pockets on the board)
- 3 types of pickups
- new pool cues (different power for shots, more damage, etc)
- new pool cue balls (flaming, fast, bouncy, etc)
- consumable 1 time use (chalk, aiming line for critical shot, reposition, etc
- new pool cues (different power for shots, more damage, etc)
- hazards on the table
- spikes to deal damage
- sandy areas to slow you
- walls in certain areas
- bumpers for random bounces
- killing enemies/clearing rooms/looting chests give pieces of 8 (currency)
- X amount can be combined into an "8 Ball" which is a life
- can be used for any currency purpose?
Where it fails to meet the classic is in the grid based environment and in pure RPG elements. I do not plan on having classic stats, besides those of the cue and ball (maybe that counts?).
(may remove scope due to time constraints) I just want to know if this is too "on the line" before I start trying to put it together. Let me know!
