Description
It's more a town area track than a boss track, what i saw in the YT list that i briefly tried was one or the other of these and its kind of a blend but mostly the town scene thing. Manually performed on Roland FA-08 but given synth "seq" style tones and quantized to 16th notes then brought over to the laptop for MixCraft Pro Studio 10.6 Post Processing, the sheet music doesn't have the hesitations cut-out like the final prodct does

There's a lot of improvisation and variety in this track which I appreciate. I would consider making the notes less staccato overall, as it is hard to make out the pitches when things move quickly. The chaotic nature of the rhythm and harmony makes it hard for me to imagine this as a town theme, having more patterns and a steady beat would help get it there.

Thanks for the honest feedback, I'm sure it's true--I tend to be chaotic generally where things that are tame enough to for example appeal to broader audiences are around just 5% of the more coherent ones.  The remainder are valid but a person has to be "in the right frame of mind" or are suitable as backgrounds in my own vibe code creations which are eclectic in game-rules to start with.

Gave you an itch follow, if you like the thing(s) on my page(s), consider doing the same.

the musical content and the style is great. It feels like you improvised something and then clicked quantized and called it a day though, with a lot of random ideas thrown everywhere. Great work keep it up :)

I reckon if Frank Zappa had lived for another 20 years, there's a high chance he would have made a piece that sounds like this (and I consider that a complement.) There are some great ideas here and I'm loving the key changes, but it's perhaps a little too chaotic for a town soundtrack. It might have been better to have taken two or three of the most interesting ideas from this and focussed on them for development.  Areas in games like Pokemon tend to have assertive musical themes that become inextricably linked to them in the player's mind, just like NPCs or colour schemes. I think if you broke this piece down, you could absolutely make two or three strong area soundtracks from it!

Much appreciated constructive feedback.

Gave an itch follow-back, here's my main website if you're interested in the deeper reasons i tend to make everything grandiose (lolz):

I like the vibes here a lot! Its a bit chaotic, melodically I usually think of Pokemon music as being a bit more tame than what you put together here, but the sound of the synth and the percussion both sound like they could be out of a Pokemon game and quite frankly I like your chord progressions more than what I typically hear in Pokemon music. This sounds like the music that would be in a Pokemon game that was unafraid of taking risks! I think adding a top melody voice could make it sound even more Pokemon. Well done on the whole!

There is some really interesting stuff here musically, the time and key signatures are very ambiguous, maybe fitting for a Sinnoh game? And the tempo change is cool and  unique. I feel like a melody could go on top of all the rhythmic parts to tie it all together though, and maybe give the listener more of a "hook" to hold on to, along with maybe more repeated sections. Overall though, it's an impressive and intricate track

The chords here are superb, they way there's all these modulations and key changes as the track goes on. I really enjoy the hectic rhythm (especially fitting for a harbor), but I don't know how I feel about the random changes in tempo (the hesitations), maybe something like slowing the rhythm or harmonic rhythm for a B section while keeping the tempo would've been more effective? Additionally, I feel the piece is lacking a prominent melody for the chords to support, a woodwind instrument or accordion would've been a great choice here! My final comment is I think the snare stick click is bit too loud, I'd turn the volume down a little on it. Other than that this is really cool!

I like the way you generated the sounds! A very round and bouncy feel, almost as if mimicking the ships going up and down on the waves. I think the "busy-ness" of the piece is a strength as well, but as it went on I was hoping for a different section seperate from the busy part. I felt it in part when you added a new instrument towards the end but I feel giving a section where the ear can take a small break could be really nice. Other than that, great work!

Jams are always under constraints.  Moreover I juggle a 9-5 job with it :) However, nearly pitting the ace with chiptune is something that seldom occurs because in the main for instrumental jams on Itch, I do manual orchestral (or jazz, or most often fusion) performances -unless- being brought in to specifically mimic console systems. So folks usually have me at a disadvantage on the web game chiptune space where almost all the time I'm in the rear 5% of the ratings pool when the Results swing around :)

I tend to be the edgelord of the bunch around here.

But super glad you gave it a listen.
