Description
meant to be a kind of intro/opening track for a game, mostly inspired by gen 5. Since its an intro track i wanted to try and incorporate a lot of different feelings in the track. I wanted the start to feel kind of nostalgic, before moving into a faster more sort of adventurous section. i tried to incorporate some ideas from the games in this track: chromatic runs, flat 7s, orchestral instrunments, etc. I got most sounds from a Layton sound font i already had since i didnt have much time to search for more. However, the synth part was made in surge.

Great work! I love the running mallets in the background, and personally I love the intense drums! While I liked your melody a lot it was a bit more melodically complex than I might expect for a Pokemon game. Could just be me though. On the whole I liked this a lot!

Vision well executed! Felt like I just opened my console and getting hyped to play the game.

The drum fills were going a bit too hard sometimes, Nyango Star “this drummer is at the wrong gig” style, but hey, I enjoyed it!

Mix needs a bit of polish as others say, but in my monitoring setup at least I get good level balance most of the song, just lacks consistency across it.

Thanks! I'm actually a metal drummer, so I kinda just made the drums a bit more intense then they probably needed to be for fun.

I like this a lot. Great interplay between the instruments and some tasteful variation to keep it interesting. Perhaps the drum kit is a little loud and/or the other instruments could be given more presence but this is minor. Great work!

Thanks for the insight! This is my first time creating anything so any kind of critique goes a long way. I'll definitely try to improve my production and mixing skills when I make something else.

Really great work for your first time

Kind of reminds me of the moon theme from the Ducktales game. I think with some tweaks this would actually make a nice battle theme, such as if you moved the gentler intro to the middle before building the intensity up again. I think the synth at the beginning is a bit abrasive, I'd EQ out some of the high frequencies, that'd help a lot. The drumkit was really neat, it was doing a lot of cool things, especially towards the end with all the changes in groove. Groove changes always make a for a good Pokémon track. Nice job!

Thanks! I really need to learn to eq stuff but I was a bit low on time so I figured I'd focus on the composition, but I'll definitely try to work on that in my next project.
