Menus ordered nicely, everything easy to find, easy to understand
No idea what the symbols above the stamina bar meant. I like that. More esoteric systems, please
Authenic GB music is decent overall, but the tracks could do with some polish (battle music a bit repetitive). Nice to have music in an early demo though
To improve:
The “mouse” cursor on name and class select screen is strange when the rest of the game uses a focused arrow pointer system
Delay moving from tile-to-tile makes it feel like my party is moving through sludge
Text in battles could be sped up. Having to wait for the panes to animate before I can advance them is annoying
After exiting a camp or shop, no need to show the “enter” prompt again. If I wanted to go back in, I’d expect to step off/back on the tile
Didn’t encounter much challenge, managed to get through by just spamming attack…
…until my MC died on floor 10. Nice
Overall, it’s a great demo. Hope you carry on with it, I’d love to see the proper enemy art. I know it’s billed as a roguelike, but adding some overarching story or lore would be nice, give a nice reason to do repeat runs.
Neat little game. Navigation would be easier if half as much time time passed between the party moving from one square to the next. It is always hard to find the balance between too slow, and easy to do accidental inputs, but this is definitely on the slower side. Traversing is also more of a chore because the layouts are pretty simple, no decision making is involved.
I would appreciate if Backspace/Space or Enter would be added to the controls. On some keyboards the XZ are not beside each other making the controls uncomfortable, it's also like second nature to try those other buttons. Also not having an extra step between pressing continue on the "Want to use X?" and picking the option would make things smoother.
I've picked a random name, and one party member also got that same name. Not necessarily a bug, but might be an out come you haven't considered, so I thought I'll tell.
I'll see what I can do about the emulator controls. As for the movement, I'm planning on making changes for it soon, I couldn't get it done in time for Demo Day. Thanks for playing.
This was really neat. The idea of your character's health determining their strength instead of EXP is a cool idea. Very simple gameplay loop and obviously there's not much to it right now, but I liked it. I will say, the character's movement speed is REALLY slow, but that might be intentional. I also noticed that if I camped or opened a shop, then exited, it'd prompt me to open them again immediately afterwards, even if I didn't press the Z key. A very minor annoyance, but something to keep in mind.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of this. Good luck.
Yeah, the window popping up again is something that's bugging me, but I've yet to find a solution to it. I'm working on improving the moment. Thanks for playing.

No real bugs found.
