That was amazing! The game is simple yet intuitive, the hand is really really well done and I like the frantic feeling of scratching away at the layers. The images underneath were pretty cool too. I started to feel overwhelmed by the eyes and static which I feel was really good design since it heightened the mood. I still won but it I had to start scratching even faster which added to the experience. Really good and unique work!
The hand is incredibly well done, and the overall art style is fantastic, great job! I love the concept, but it was a bit hard to figure out what to do without reading the spoiler section. The only thing missing for me was a scratching sound effect. It might be annoying for some, but I think it would really add to the atmosphere. Congrats on the entry! :D
Post QA;
Hands and most visuals are surprising to say actually moved and worked good for following the mouse and doing respective actions. Where the downsides ensues at the gameplay and the core game loop where at one point I have zero idea what to do and had to look for the said âSpoiler warningsâ
Theres no tutorials, no explanation, no introductions to the initial game except if I dig into the web description which makes me question if itâs intentional /if itâs intentional Iâll apologize if this got through the bad way/
Overall nice work, very creative and it reminds me of âGetting over itâ lol
This was so good, the mechanics are awesome! and the visuals were greeaat! maybe the eyes could have some dialogues to make it more interesting and if there is not an end it would good to add some rewards for the player at the end! Great joob!
The visuals were great! However, like everyone else, I had no idea what I was doing XD I figured out the covering the eyes part but I can't figure out if my scratching was doing anything or not.
I didnât understand anything, but it looks cool - thereâs a separate like for the banner. You already know the rest.
Visuals and Idea are super creative, tho it was hard to understand what the scratching was doing or if I was doing anything right, very cool though
I have no idea what I'm supposed to achieve - I've made scratches and died instantly a few times, another time I've scratched away all the surface and moved the hand in circles for about 30 seconds before dying again, without anything else happening.
I did like the use of IK here, you don't see that too often in jams :).
Thanks for playing! Yeah, the goal is pretty much to just scrape away the screen layers. I definitely shouldâve added clearer feedback for what was happening. I've now realized that I forgot to make some of the damage sources frame-independent, which is probably why you died instantly sometimes (sorry about that).
The hand IK and visuals look great. The game play is bit confusing though
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked the visuals, I spent a decent amount of time struggling to learn IK lol. Taking a step back now, I agree that I should have made gameplay/goals clearer. I wanted the game to feel "mysterious" but it just ended being more confusing than intended.
I found it very strange. It seems like an experimental/conceptual game, but you can barely see the effect of the scratching hand, and the static sound goes from being atmospheric to annoying after 20 seconds.
Yeah I agree. I wasn't able to figure out how to implement the screen scratching to be how I originally intended it, so kind of just ended up as a prototype mode. Some clearer visual feedback and audio would've been nice so the effect was easier to notice. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!â
