I think you executed a nice concept quite well. The game is quite challenging with how persistent the enemies are and how the levels are designed. In the last stage though (Stage 3), I was a bit confused as to where the fridge was, but overall this was fun.
Good entry for the jam, and I loved the AI behavior, like if they still see you they'd chase you down. Good job!
random thing to point out but I enjoy the freeze being because of shock rather than the more literal alternative! even if it's functionally the same, from what I see a lot of others (including mine) took that approach and so yea I wanted to point that out, yours is less obvious but more logical haha (not that the logic matters in all of our silly little games, but it felt nice)
I was considering having the enemies be bats due to their sensitivity to sound, but a friend of mine suggested that they should be cats instead, and honestly it kinda makes more sense and is more fun too!
ooooh that’s fun! I do agree the cats make more sense for this setting, but you should hold onto the idea of bats and their sound sensitivity, that’s really cool!!
Solid project for a first 3 day jam! I also got sent to the test level, but that's okay! I really enjoyed the cat art and I also really liked the animation of the ice cube guy blowing the whistle!
Liked the overall idea of a stealth game as I think it's not so obvious to do something like that for the theme that was here :) I have to say that the stealth part didn't work for me because the cats always saw me but I think it's a very solid project for a first time game jam and such short one too!
I feel like the stealth part doesn’t work as well as it could. I kept wanting to freeze the cats, hide somewhere, then move again, but they spot you from really far away and immediately start chasing you. I saw that this was your first 3-day jam though, and honestly that’s already really good for a first one. I also couldn’t find the fridge in level 3, which was a bit frustrating because I was really hoping to reach the end. But overall, congrats and well done!
Thank you for your review!
Turns out I accidentally had the second fridge take you to my test level instead of the actual 3rd level lol
Overall I do agree on the cats having too high of a range, but I probably didnt realize due to how much time i spent playtesting and tweaking the cats.
Surprinsingly way more stressful than I imagined!I like the idea a lot and find a lot of melancholy in this poor little ice cube melting. I wish there was a way of seeing the ice cube melting as we go. But for a first jam, it's really great work! Congrats!
Thank you for playing and leaving a review!
I was planning to add a ~1-2 time limit to each level while also having the cube melt, but I lost track of time and didn't get the chance to do either. (I was in the bathroom and randomly checked the jam page and saw that I only had 30 mins left when I thought I had a couple more hours.)
Also just to clarify, this is my first 3-DAY jam, and not my first jam in general. (albeit my last jam was like 3 years ago so yeah)
