I don't have enough technical ability to understand the underlying work but keep a broad enough diet of voices to suspect that you are on to a solid approach. I make comparisons of AI to the law, and liken this to legislation that interacts with complex systems in ways that you cannot foresee all its future interactions when you write it. This seems to be like a prepass judicial review BEFORE the law goes into effect. Which, if functioning properly, would be exactly how an adversarial legislature OUGHT to work. Love people who see the value of adversarial thinking popping up in different domains!
Pitch is solid, I really like the who it's not for section. One thing I wish you had delved into is how you'll assess milestones or the tool's success. Are you measuring time spent on QA, how are you measuring tech debt, and do the vibe coders you want to sample have to be experienced vibe coders or noob developers that are leveraging ai. Jumping into the granularity, or providing a resource that does so, in the pitch covers your base for people who want to know more.
yes, valid feedback! the honest answer is I don't know to a bunch of the questions. at this stage "testing Tollens" for me is mostly about finding out what it does (which changes every day, as agentically coded things often do!) - and I'm live discovering who I currently think is best for the alpha and what success measures I'm using. I'm going to need to do some manual qualifying (i.e. emailing and DMing alpha users) to figure out who should try it first, so I'm just trying to get people onto my mailing list who *might* want to try it for now.
but yes, good nudges, and definitely something that I'll need to have in place at the point we move from closed to open alpha
"did i wanna buy"
I think this pitch is extremely well written, but I am certainly not the target audience as I don't currently use a heavy ai coding setup (sometimes "browser based" ai coding but even that is infrequent) and would likely not be purchasing something like this so take my review with a grain of salt (unless i AM a target audience, in which case i did not feel like this appealed to me in a way i could attach to for a purchase)
"overall thoughts on the idea"
i do feel like this idea is a good one and will be extremely useful in the right hands
Solid concept. I said this in the community tab, but it bears repeating - reminds me of what I've seen https://x.com/VictorTaelin talk about. At least a few strong overlapped concepts.
This pitch is so good. It has a clear vision of who needs this and who does not. It has a distinct aesthetic in both graphic design and writing tone, and speaks clearly about issues familiar even to lay people who follow recent news surrounding AI. After reading this, I started immediately thinking about whether I would want to use this in the future, and also who in my life might benefit from knowing about this. I consider the messaging in this pitch to be very powerful. Great marketing and public relations.
I would like to sign up to be an alpha test vibecoder. I am not a professional programmer, and my first vibecoded projects are available for viewing on Itch.
hey sunrise, thank you so much for the feedback! please can you drop me an email at yanqing@tollens.ai about signing up for the alpha so I can get you onto our email lists?
