Stuff you didn't do during the jam
Most character sprites were originally taken from Gar 28. All of them were either edited or at least touched up compared to the original sprites. Backgrounds are screenshots of areas from Gar 28 taken in Godot. Some of the sound effects and music were sourced from freesound.org, see the Credits in the Extras menu.

I have no idea what Gar28 is but damn this was silly. The characters are nice and varied despite all being cats (All my cat chars look the damn same). Did two endings, one of them was murder, was not expecting that. The backgrounds sorta have a creepy vibe to them, probably just the fact that they're all dark with shadows when the characters are unshaded and bright, but that sort of fits the vibe of the game well? Certainly a lot more for me to explore in the game, will probably revisit.

ohh man it looks like everyone else had a good time but i went on the date and my feelings about mister protagonist plummeted right off a cliff

clearly effort went in, though; i've written enough god damned visual novel engines to know it takes some work haha.  but wow this fuckin guy

I liked the character sprites and backgrounds and there was some funny dialog too. I only got a branch with one character but im sure theres more fun dialog and backgrounds to see if i kept playing.

I like how bite-sized the dialogue is. Settings for skipping text animation and fast-forwarding would be a big help with speeding up navigation. The art style is cute and fits the low-poly prerendered backgrounds, which do a lot to suggest a sense of place and scale. I've only tried a couple of routes, you've made a big world with plenty of choices to make!

The writing in this feels really disjoint but in a waking dream sort of way (shades of Link’s Awakening and Mulholland Dr), which I absolutely love. I also enjoy the feeling of a mid-90s multimedia point-and-click adventure with the Cutting Edge Computer Graphics™ in the background. I have no idea who/what Gar 28 is, and having a relevant link somewhere in the game description would have been nice.

The music is also great for setting a mood.

UX-wise I’d also like a way of making the text not slowly appear on the screen, and maybe cut down on the time taken by visual transitions as well. Keyboard access would be nice too, and I couldn’t figure out any way of making the settings menu appear while playing.

Jop also seems like a real garbage person [affectionate].

Anyway, this was an interesting experience overall.

I’m glad you liked it! Again, the engine this game runs on was written during the game jam, so I didn’t have enough time to perfect everything in between life stuff…

I was afraid Gar 28 would be an obscure fandom I didn't know of, but knowing it was your own work was so much better. The entire game is like a self-targeting fanfic, which I kind of loved? You can feel how sprawling the lore is, and the conversations are written in short and quipy lines that make the pacing excellent and intriguing.
I most appreciated the Big Gay Memory Loss, I thank Woke for his work (ew ew ew), and wanted to find the former mayor to have a friendly word with him after I found out I could commit murder.
Thank you for the game, it was fun!

mario voice Thank-a you so much for-a playing my game!

The thought of making a VN spinoff for Gar 28 to promote it had come across my mind before, and this was the perfect opportunity to act on it….

This was a smart move, def got me intrigued! I chased Gar in every screen after meeting the cat for the first time haha

Solid writing, not a fan of the stock assets for the background since we can't really see much but it does the job. Glad to see more VN enjoyers out there :)

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! The backgrounds are screenshots of Gar 28, which is a much larger game I’m developing - all the assets seen in these screenshots were created by me.

Oh, cool to see you have a bigger game coming :) Sorry, I didn't know those were your assets, there was little lighting so I assumed it was to mask them a bit >_>

It's a lovely world.
The writing was easy to follow and it was worded in ways that made me curious about the context.
The spritework is cute too.
Good job

Game: "Now's your chance to be horny :>"
Me: "stfu, I'm learning LORE"

Jokes aside, I like this game. The write is solid. The characters are neat. There is a surprising amount of  depth to the game which I'll have to explore later. I am fascinated by the Perc City, it's history, it's shining hope, it's back slide into corruption, and it's scandals. I've never been one for dating games, but I am a sucker for that kind of stuff.

Also, while you didn't go to far into depth with the sex scenes, the bits leading up to the GOOD ENDINGs were very well written. Good luck making Gar 28.

tysm! :3

This was a lot of fun! The characters are all really charming. I completed the Qeamleena route pretty quickly and thought that'd be it, but when I tried a second time I was surprised by how many choices there are.

The game has a total of 11 endings, so there’s quite a lot to do and see….

The app gets flaged by windows when I try to launch it, even in admin mode (win 11, 64 bits)
Edit: managed to bypass this by renaming exe files (??)

This dating sim game is actually pretty solid - the writing style and the memes added in give this game a level of humour and self-awareness that feels refreshing. It does feel a little barebones, especially without any lewd scenes of the characters, instead fading to black and ending the game when the "action" begins, but certainly a solid beginning if this will be expanded on later down the line!

Developer

I unfortunately do not have the budget or skills to include lewd scenes in the game, but I would definitely add them had it been plausible.

For this I'd recommend leaving the screen black and just using text to describe what happens. It would be a nice reward!
