This was a lot of fun!
The sound design/ambiance is great - does a really good job of setting the stage and letting the player "fill in the blanks" with their imagination.
Well done!
(By the way, I noticed a bug: you can get the reward over and over by repeatedly selecting "Visit Eldric the Olde" at the end.)
Thanks so much for playing it! I'm glad you had fun!
Yeah. I heard about the bug and I have fixed it. Too bad submissions are locked. But you get to keep all the gold for the bug bounty :)
game was fun and really had me locked in with the darkness
Thanks for playing Royal! I'm glad you liked it :)
Very immersive and atmospheric experience, I love the dark mood the game sets.
The gameplay gives me a lot of Diablo vibes, which I do love - especially the fog of war mechanics and the combat.
Good job and all the best for the jam :)
Thanks for playing and I'm happy you liked it!
Good luck to you as well!
Wow!! I love this so much!! I had a fun time playing this. And the music just fits perfectly. Great job!!
Thank you so much! You made my morning.
This is a really solid foundation for a creepy dungeon crawler. You music choice really sells the terror and dread you would expect in this situation. I'm loving it!
Thanks man! I'm happy you like it!
Pretty fun! The text log was a pretty neat idea and the old english was fun! The skeletons kept jumpscaring us which was funny,, I’d like to see what you do with it in the future!
Thank you for playing and I'm happy you liked it! I do plan on improving it.
There's a lot I like about this game! For one, the audio work is fantastic. It elevates the atmosphere and tension to a whole other level, I actually got pretty startled when I first encountered the mantis LOL. The combat is surprisingly fun too. I'm usually bored by combat in these types of dungeon crawlers, but combat being timing-based adds some fresh real-time action to the experience that kept my interest.
My complaints only begin after getting the chalice. A tiny bug I encountered was that the flavor text didn't tell me what item I received from a loot chest. There was another pretty egregious bug where you can return the chalice to the elder an infinite number of times, which let me get 150K gold on my first run (I reset my run after discovering the glitch to not ruin the experience).
And after returning to the dungeon for a second night, I was expecting the dungeon to reset with harder monsters or something, but when I realized everything was still the same, that's when I decided to stop, figuring I played everything there was. So while there were a few hiccups with the bugs, don't let that distract from the fact you've made a game with a really fun core. The tension as you creep through the branches of the dungeon are impeccable, and I'd love to see it further expanded on! :D
I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
Yeah the quest and in fact the town itself was like a last day addition so I knew there are bugs but I'm happy you actually completed it. You deserve the 150k gold as a bug bounty!
I'm definitely going to expand it and make it more meaty with more levels to the dungeon and more monsters. Thanks for the encouragement to continue.
I don't like mazes, but the game is addictive like an RPG. I liked the music in the background. Well done
Thanks man! Glad you got into it. I agree with the maze critique. I'm planning on putting in rooms once the game jam let's me update it.
Fun and challenging dungeon crawler! Music drives home the creepy mysterious vibe. The mobs are challenging and keep me on my toes. Exudes real cool retro crpg/rogue vibes.
I'm psyched you liked it.
