It was really funny to see the HUD move with the character, i do assume it wasn’t intended, but it was funny to see nonetheless.
Ok, so, there is a weird bug that has the double jump star give me 2 star points instead of 1, which made the game immediately end when i got the half star on the same room, thankfully it felt extremely odd to me so i did replay the game again to see the rest (i thought that maybe that one half start just ended the game, but no, a different half star also made the game end)
At the third time i replayed the game was when the double jump star gave me the correct amount, so i don’t know what was up with that bug.
The game’s graphics were nice to look at, i don’t know if the sketch artstyle was intended on purpose or just lack of time to finish, but it looked really charming nonetheless.
Really neat and adorable prototype!
Even in such a short demo, I could definitely see the work that went into the assets. The sprites and animation for the main character were lovely, and the bright tileset coupled with the sky backdrop made for a truly heavenly atmosphere. The music was fittingly peaceful and soothing as well.
The controls and combat seemed to work quite well, although more sound feedback would definitely be nice. The transformation was also a cool feature, though lasting only 5 seconds felt a bit short. I could definitely see it working as some kind of a buff that you build over time, for example by attacking enemies, to finally unleash it during a boss fight! And then maybe you could even prolong it by attacking continuously and avoiding damage.
I actually wish the game didn't kick you out for finding 3 full stars, as there was more to explore in the level and I ended up restarting a few times just to see everything. I really hope you make a full game in the future!
I love this game! There is so much potential here!
Just booting the game for the first time I could see this was something special. The art is really good (though un-rendered), but the animation itself is really smooth. I honestly think the line art/animation frames feels like a unique and cool style on it's own!
The game was very short unfortunately, but I found it really cool to find the transformation pearl. I was really shocked to see her transform, as I didn't expect even more fantastic animations on the cloth.
I would love to see this game continued and fleshed out! I need to know what's behind that door!
Short and sweet! Very cute art style, and nice music. Very short, but i think you can make something very good in the future! :D
thanks <3
I'm planning on expanding it for the MVM Super jam, since there was a lot of ideas I didn't get to implement here!
this is so so so cute!!! i kind of like the (is it.. storyboard-esque?) art the whole thing gave me a happy vibe
, the ui looks to be child of the player, so it moves around and goes behind the terrain, if you put it under a canvaslayer instead it should stay in place, i also just thought the ui was a bit cluttered with the numbers, would be an improvement to have greyed out version of the stars and pearl instead.
interested to see what you do in the future! do you have any socials to link to?
thank youu <3
oop, good catch, I didn't have time to learn how to do a proper UI, so I just tossed it in as a child of the camera, but the camera is a child of the player, so it's moving all around and disappearing behind walls, haha.
thanks for the feedback!
I, uh, only sort of have socials, there's my 5-days-old bluesky with nothing in it right now (@lantaniel.bsky.social) and my tumblr for mostly fanart (lantaniel.tumblr.com)
Beautiful artwork and music! Riding on the mobs was quite enjoyable
Pretty fun little magical collectathon game. I cleared it.
