I had fun hunting for the treasures! I enjoyed the artwork and levels. I didn't enjoy hunting for the exits as much. I think some of the hidden doors make sense, but nearly every passage to another location proved difficult to find.
Thanks. Some other people have also mentioned the door problem, and I realized that I know where the exits are but not the player. I will try to keep that in mind from now on.
This was a cute game! I enjoyed the music - it especially paired nicely with the timed nature of the game. The controls were fluid and the little character was fun to watch navigating the map! (By the way, the in-game control hints were well placed and a very nice touch!)
It was a little difficult to find other stages but the frustration was rewarded by the surprising jump to the next stage!
I did notice a bug: the music stopped playing after retry but background sounds did start back after entering the next stage (stage with the trees).
Thank you so much. It feels good to see people liking the game. The music was one I had built myself sometime before to pass the time, didn't know it would be used at a time like this. The bug you mentioned seems like a problem with the coding. I will look into it.
Fun little game, I enjoyed it!
Really impressive game, I struggled with some of the platforming elements, and the cave seemed to have some missing content - I got the password but then the unlocked area appears to have nothing in it? Other than that, amazing art, I loved how you made the background feel alive with the yellow dots moving
Your game is from 00:00 - 08:00
Thank you. For the problem in the cave you mentioned, explore the whole cave. The room you got in doesn't have the treasure, it was just made to misguide :)
Edit: Another thing, there is another path in the northeast of the main island.
I like the chill charm that the game exudes, especially with the main character and little touches like how the grass sways in the wind.
The falling animation and also the somersaults never get old - in fact I navigated almost entirely by repeating somersaults to get around the map.
I didn't play the game extensively due to other commitments, but I did find 3 treasures and SNORLAX lol ;)
Thank you! It's nice to know people are liking the art and animations. Navigating wit summersaults was also the way I did it while making it! The cave and my version of Snorlax do form an interesting part. Try to play it if you can in the future. Thanks again.
I love the treasure hunter theme of the game so much! It's so challenging and make the player have to figure it out the mechanics of the hiding treasures. But on my first run i have only found 2 of them :)) I will definitely try again later to find all of them. The artwork is so cute, the music is very relaxing. Overall, this is a solid one for the jam.
Thank you. This is the first time I have made the art and music for my game myself and looks like it turned out really well. For finding all the treasures, I suggest you explore every corner, especially in the cave.
This was so much fun!!!! The jump mechanic is so cool I’ve never seen something like that before, it’s really interesting! THE FALLING ANIMATION HAD US LAUGHING SO HARD ITS SO CUTE
The varied environments and art were really pretty! It would be nice if level transitions were more obvious, also we couldn’t find the treasure from the hint about the trees…but we had so much fun regardless!! Everything else was really fun to discover!
Thanks a lot! I personally have always liked jumping in 2d top-down games and Link's Awakening DX being the inspiration, it was added as a little feature. Good to know you liked the animations too. I could not figure out how to make the level transitions better.
As for the treasure in the forest near the trees, there is a tree standing in the middle. Nests are not pasted outside of trees, are they? ;)
I liked this game! The art is charming and gave off MOTHER 1/Pokemon vibes. I'm especially in love with the jump animation. The light puzzle parts were fun too, like the forest riddle and finding the cave password. If anything I wish the game leaned more its puzzles! Really my only critiques of the game are a couple small things. Like the screen transitions felt too abrupt, which made it hard to tell what was a dead-end or a transition to another part of the island. Another is that the obstacle course to the cave was a bit tedious. The timing on the jumps felt too strict for its own good, and I suspect there's no coyote time which didn't help matters. But I finished the game having a pleasant time!
Thank you. I am proud I made the art myself this time and it turned out well, good to know you liked it too. The gen 2 pokemon sprites were used as a reference, and the jump animation was actually referenced from Link's Awakening DX. As for the puzzles, I also wanted to make it explorable instead of just focusing on puzzles.
I understand the issues you mentioned, I will try to work on them in the future. Thanks for the feedback!
I am proud to announce I am a member of the Treasure Hunter's Gang!
The game is really cute! My main suggestion is to generally make it more obvious which walls/tiles in a level are the doors/exits. I realize some of the point of this game is to hide them but generally it would be good to use tiles to show the player where they entered a level and how to get back out. But either way I had fun and completed the game. :)
Good to know you liked it. The exits, as you guessed, were meant to be a little hidden to fit the overall treasure-finding theme but I guess I should have added some guide. Thanks, and welcome to the Treasure Hunter's Gang!
