Very nice entry! Lovely art and a really cool take on the theme. I agree with one of the comments about the timer feeling counter to an otherwise cozy game. Is there timer supposed to be the character aging? And it seems like the time and take and give from the environment was connected to the game timer, but it was kind of hard for me to tell exactly how. Overall, excellent game, y'all should be proud :)

I like your art style and your take on the genre. The watercolor-looking painting went well with the background music. Some sound effects for the interactions (e.g. jump) would go a long way still. Sometimes the environment was a bit off, the spikes looked a bit like a wheat field, and some landings on the mushrooms that I would've expected to make were failed (but it might just be me, I'm not very good at platformers). Overall, a cozy and pretty little game you can certainly be proud of!

  • great music
  • fitting scene transitions

I didn鈥檛 recognize the spikes on the floor of the second level as dangerous; took me three tries to figure out why I died there 馃檭

Stuck on level three though

Enjoyed it.

Very creative and challenging game, I was able to get to level 3 but couldn't finish (I'm not good enough). Loved the art style and the mechanics, specially once I realized that stealing time could do different things. Congrats for the submission!

I loved the concept and art style. The walkthrough link in another comment helped me with level 2 but I couldn鈥檛 beat level 3 yet (will give it another try later).

Something with the controllers tho: I鈥檓 pretty sure in my first gameplay it was working with AWSD and space, which is great once we have to use mouse, but on a second game play I couldn鈥檛 make it to work and had to use the left, right and up arrow keys which is not that great.

I really love the water olourish art, also i find the mechanic very original.its a really solid game but might be skill issue on my part but i fidn that the difficulty significantly spikes from level 1 to 2 but overall good game.if you have time you can check out my game:/jam/godot-wild-jam-91/rate/4407358

For anyone stuck on level 2, there鈥檚 a walkthrough by Dynaheart on Discord, and you can also find help in the game鈥檚 comments. Thank you all for playing our game!

  • Love the detail on the homepage!
  • Very in depth options. A language setting!
  • Cool art style, I don't think I've seen anything else in the jam quite like it
  • Jumping feels a bit floaty for my liking
  • A visual indicator for how much time juice you have could be useful
  • Also got stuck on level 2 :(

Cool game/idea, good job!

Developer (1 edit)

We wanted to experiment with localization in this project which is why there鈥檚 a language option. Improvements to the character controller and UI are planned for the next update. If you鈥檙e curious about the level 3, you can check out Dynaheart鈥檚 level 2 walkthrough on Discord. Thank you for your time :)

A beautiful experience inspired by the best of the best in the field of time-centered videogames. Unfortunately I had to quit during the last level as I couldn't figure out the solution to the spiked block that moved up and down, but I'd seen enough to hold this game in high regard.

Developer

The idea behind that last level is to manage your time by storing it somewhere and retrieving it a bit later. It鈥檚 quite challenging and I still have trouble finishing it consistently myself. Thank you for your time :)

Nive visuals! Really clever use of a timer, I thought stealing/giving time only affected the platforms and the player, but only on level 3 (thanks to @dynaheart for the level 2 walktrough) I realized it also impacts how much actual time you have left, maybe you could add a visual indicator in addition to the number itself. Other than that, good game overall, congrats!

Developer(+1)

We actually considered using a progress bar to display the remaining time but decided to stick with a label for now. It鈥檚 something we might revisit in a future update. We鈥檙e really glad you enjoyed the mechanics. Thank you for your time :)

Level 2 was tricky, sad to hear the bug couldn't be caught in time :/ but I was able to finish it! Every other level works as intended

The collision boxes don't always grow to the same size as the mushroom sprites. Perhaps if the sprites upscaled a bit before switching to the next one, their actual height would be clearer

I really liked the way the final level makes you use the platforms around you as a sort of bank for the time you need to give to become a child

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, and I'm glad to hear you got through level 2! For the collision boxes, changing the size of the sprites to indicate the actual positions of the hitboxes is a great idea, and something that we'll definitely try and take into account in future updates after the jam. As for the last level, it was a lot of fun to design. We're both pretty new to level design, but I thought that would be a fun way to use the mechanics we had to create a sort of puzzle, and I'm glad that came across in the final result.

Super clever idea! I loved that the characters appearance changed based on the amount of time stolen. I got stuck on level two and couldn't progress unfortunately, but overall it was a really fun experience. Nice job!

If you鈥檙e still interested, Dynaheart posted a Level 2 walkthrouh on Discord that can help you reach the last level. Thank you for your time :)

Really like the core mechanic and overall concept!

It鈥檚 a shame level 2 is bugged, but great work and I鈥檇 love to see more!

Developer

Dynaheart shared a Level 2 walkthrouh on Discord that you can follow to get past the issue and reach the final level. Thank you for your time :)

The graphics are great nice game !! Stealing and giving time was a super creative idea and adds to the gameplay super well. Unfortunate the level 2 didnt work for me but the vision was there. If i was to suggest something, i'd say a restart button. Very nice game Living Dood and InsideMyShell !!

Developer (1 edit)

We鈥檒l definitely add a restart button in the next update. If you are curious about the final level, you can check out Dynaheart鈥檚 level 2 walkthrough on Discord. Thank you for your time :)

Love the mechanic and the overall idea !
Too bad the level 2 is bugged, I would like to complete the game
Good work, want to see more of it !

A very clever take on the theme! The artwork is also quite nice. I didn't have the patience to get past level 2, but I did like the game overall.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Sorry about the bugs on level 2; I know that it gets really annoying having to hold the click down on the stone for that long. It was something we noticed and had thought we fixed, but that still managed to slip into the final version during the rush to submit the game, and we're planning on patching it as soon as the jam is over.

Submitted(+1)

I like the art. It's really cool that stealing/giving time affects the character's age.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Drawing the character aging was quite challenging and it still looks rough, but I鈥檓 happy you liked it. Thank you for your time :)

I really love the art in this game. It鈥檚 beautiful and creates a great atmosphere. However, some elements are a bit confusing. For example, the wooden spikes in the second stage blend in so well with the background that I thought they were just decorations. I died a few times before I realized I couldn't walk through them. But overall, the mechanics, art, and sound are really well-done.

Developer(+1)

We鈥檙e really glad you enjoyed the game. There will be a patch to make them stand out more from the background. Thank you for your time :)

Submitted(+1)

Incredible approach to the theme of the jam! The art and the detail of the character getting younger and older with the stolen or given time is really cool. Not much else to say, I couldn't get past the second level because of a bug, but I understand these things happen. Hopefully, you can get it fixed soon. Congrats on the entry!

Developer

We didn鈥檛 have time to add more levels, and that little bug just wouldn鈥檛 leave our commit. We鈥檒l have both sorted out in the next update. Thank you for your time :)

Submitted(+1)

Really pretty game :) I think the timer is kind of at odds with the feel of the rest of the game, which is relaxing and cozy. Very cool style though, it reminded me of a children's book.

Developer

The timer was meant to show the remaining time and give a subtle sense of the character鈥檚 age, but we can see how it might feel out of place. I鈥檓 glad you liked the art. Thank you for your time :)
