Is this future (in your game) possible?
Yes, it's not far off; food prices are extremely high, and people are organizing themselves in soup kitchens.

This mix of 3D with 2D sprites honestly captivates me. I’ve made a game like this before, and when that combination works, it’s really great. But getting back to your game, it’s genuinely beautiful. I really liked the interactions, both with the dialogues from the people who come into the cafeteria and the idea that there’s no wrong way to make a soup—that’s awesome. The sound effects also fit the atmosphere really well.

Overall, One Soup at a Time is a great game you made—congratulations!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am happy you got this message that there is no wrong soup hehe :D

Notes from gameplay:

  • Art style is adorable! Feels cozy and welcoming just from the splash screen. Awesome title image as well!
  • The music stopped very quickly, is that intentional? All I hear is chatter now
  • Back button on credits popup doesn't work, had to reload
  • Great work including a tutorial
  • Hehe, I love the sound effect for the back button
  • The button styling looks crisp and professional, nice work!
  • Font is clean and legible
  • Clever use of blah blah voice effects to make the characters feel voice acted
  • Oh, thank goodness that the soup ingredients list all the likes/dislikes. I was like oh boy, I won't be able to remember this...
  • Hmm, I think whatever I make is going to upset someone :(
  • Caro's my favorite simply because she eats everything! :P
  • I love how everyone helps each other out at the end!
  • Great character design. I like how inclusive it is!

What a sweet game! I love the idea of a community where everyone helps each other out in the ways they can :) Great work!

Thanks for your kind review, Loressa! By giving people dislikes, we wanted to let players play around with different veggie combinations. If not many come one day, there is always a new day :D

Lovely concept. I like how your solutions for the future exist already, it's inspiring! Really elegant way to add replayability to the game and scratch the completionism itch too :)

Extra kudos to the sound designer - the characters' babbling was delightful!
