Very cool implementation of the theme - forecasting the lightning strikes! Nice loop and I think you did a good job creating an aesthetic that evoked the storm and lightning well. Good job!
Interesting concept. I like the idea of using environmental cues to time inputs, but I wonder if there are other ways to do this beyond just waiting a specific time after passing each obstacle. There's definitely potential here!
GDevelop is actually a really nice engine to use! It has a great visual scripting system and is truly free, without the limitations you get with Construct.
As for the game: really fun! It’s a nice loop-based game that would also work well on mobile. I did have some trouble understanding how to catch the lightning, maybe a few hints to show when it’s about to strike would help. But after a while you get the hang of it, and it becomes fun to figure out. Unless it’s completely random and I somehow unlocked prediction powers haha, but I hope it’s not fully random!
Really enjoyable overall, great job!
Thanks for playing! It is actually not random at all (Except the spawn timing of the objects) but each of the objects have specific timings (except bushes, they are just there for distraction). I went back and forth on if I should have more tells of when it was gonna strike but that felt too easy.
I liked the aesthetic very reminiscent of nidhogg. I couldn't quite figure out the lightning cues outside of the kite which made it kind of difficult
I felt like theres a very small window to capture the lightning, my high score was 0
Fun simple game with good 1-bit visuals. The SFX were nice too. Trying to predict where the lightning would strike made it surprisingly exciting, and it felt really good when I guessed it right. Easy to understand and fun to play.
I couldnt figure out when the lightning would strike, it felt pretty random. However the art was really good and the mechanic was interesting.
Thanks for playing! The lightning is actually not random but based on timings after passing certain objects. I think I should have been more explicit about pointing this out but oh well haha.
Black and yellow, black and yellow! :) This game is really interesting.
Really enjoyed the style. Great job!
I was impressed with this game's 1-bit graphics. They're visually striking! And the whole "lightning in a bottle" approach is a clever take on that turn of phrase. There's a nice dramatic tension involved with the audio cues, too. It's a surprisingly involved game for such a small package.
This game was so immersive, but it was way too hard, it was basically luck, but I guess it's realistic. Overall this is a very very good game!
I really like the walking animation and rain effect, i was fully immersed. the lightning was difficult for me to catch in the jar, which is another point towards its realism
