Theme Interpretation
Mori is a spooky Oregon Trail-like where you play as two body snatchers from 1800s Edinburgh selling cadavers to doctors for profit! What they don't realize is that they're not the only monsters in this tale! The goal is to make as much money as possible so you can pay your rent.

I loved the graphics! good job!

Beautiful game with a great atmosphere. I actually played it 5-6 times to the end to see the effects and what happens if I get to 0 coins or health. It is a very well polished experience, which is impressive as a solo dev. The pacing felt a bit slow in the beginning, but I came to accept it after the third playthrough as part of the melancholic tone. The gameplay is very simple, but I think that's okay for a jam game.

One issue I found is that the Retry button didn't seem to work when I died after reaching 0 HP.

The art is absolutely gorgeous, seriously stunning! The Oregon style vibe has so much potential.

I like a Victoria's setting, But. I cant win. Visual is very beautiful and wonderful style. Just add some BGM and Sound Effect for more vibe and just hint some effect of choice, it must be easily for me  Haha!

I want to know is there a way to win, or something like that, or at least different ending than mystically appearing in hall and dying. I've REALLY interested in that story, but I have no idea what's going on :p
Peak visuals, also enable looping for your OST :D

I made 585 on my first playthrough, who would've guessed I'd be such a good body snatcher?
The slow pace was a breath of fresh air imo. I don't think the game would be as somber as it is did it not pause for a moment every now and then.

Also, my body snatching partner is MEAN LOL

I liked it a lot!

I loved this game's setting and world, felt sufficiently macabre. The art and music were awesome and fit it perfectly. The backgrounds (especially the ones in the town) were really good.

I wish you could do something between the events, like give me control so I can move the characters so it's more interactive. Right now it feels empty just waiting for them to reach the next event.

I know you explain the premise in the itch page description but I'd like if it were explained a tad in the game itself, cuz I had to reread that description to get who I was and what I was doing.

Cool entry!

The art! It is soooo pretty! Oregon style games are needed and the vibe here has potential. Great work!

So beautiful, the whole ambience felt cohesive, really good job! Like other people have said, some quality of life in gameplay could be made. But nonetheless awesome stuff, you did great!

Great art and ambience! The game is a bit slow for me and definitely needs more "gameplay" I guess, but I know how difficult it is doing all that alone in a week haha, it's very nice still!

The atmosphere created is amazing! Well done

Developer

Thank you thank you!

I feel like the art and the setting you chose complement each other very well! The game looks amazing, the background transitioning seamlessly as the days pass by is excellent. I'd echo some other opinions here and say the time between events could be a bit shorter, but the events themselves are well-written and fit the theme. Excellent entry!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing, and appreciate the feedback! c:

I wasn't able to play it, I believe because of Godot not liking Firefox for some reason. And that's a SHAME! Because the art looks so well made and the atmosphere and subject matter is right up my alley. If you're able to add a download option for Linux I might try it later!

In any case, good job!

I'll definitely see what I can do!  I want to do a more finalized release of the game, so I'll see how many options I can build for.  It's nice to hear that it's up your alley!  At points, I wondered if the idea was a little out there, but I do love everything spooky and dark history so I just rolled with it.

Amazing artwork, I love that style! I think mashing in the collage like photographs to help out where you probably didn't have time to draw loads is clever, and achieves a cool effect for the most part. I love the body's portrait, and its slow, very subtle decay and transformation - having it on the side so that you're not constantly watching it is fantastic for that. The writing also achieves a great, consistent tone and is enjoyable to read.

Congrats on having gotten to the stage where you're not relying as much on tutorials anymore - you seem to have a really good sense for how to tie together a vision overall and you'll only flourish from here :D

A few bits of feedback, though I read you're looking to improve a lot already:

 - A skip button for text would be nice to get to read faster - especially since the choices appear quicker than the actual description does.

- Seeing the success chances, if there are any, next to the option, would make it feel a bit more like there is some sense of choice and strategy involved.

- A clearer ending will be great, but also I think a clearer beginning, as I was not entirely sure what we were doing until the very end.

Thank you for the in-depth review!  I seriously appreciate it!  You definitely read that right.  I wanted a village, but I was not going to have time to draw it.  A cool little detail is that all those buildings are actually photos from South Edinburgh from the late 1800s. c:

I really appreciate the kind words and the feedback as well! More clarity is a big focus for the next update.

I like the art style and the very subtle changes to the vampire as the day's go on great game

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad you  noticed the vampire changing ;u;

The artwork in this game is lovely; everything looks very stylish. I also liked the original concept involving the coffin and the vampires

Thank you so much!!

The art is amazing, and the sound and music are great too. The concept and encounters are very interesting. I think it would benefit from some animation feedback for things like health and money gains/losses. The ending felt a bit sudden, but that’s understandable given the time constraints. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and playing!  Yeah, visual juice is definitely next on my list when I start working on this project again.

Congrats for first non-tutorial dependent game. I really enjoyed the atmosphgere/ambience here. Nice parallaxing effect. I think one critique just because im impatient there would be a speed up button for traveling from option to option like 2x mode. Art was well make and good SFX sounds fitting for the game overall.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback!  I was worried about the speed, so I appreciate the insight!

Loved the art in this game but wish there was more to do in a gameplay sense. The concept is super interesting too, and it's amazing that you made this on your own! Excited to see what you work on in the future!

Developer(+2)

I can totally see that, and thank you for playing!  I'm very much an artist first haha. When the end came rolling around I was wishing I had poured more time into the gameplay.  Definitely a lesson I'll be taking with me!
