Really nice song!! The crow calls are a nice touch. Unfortunately the wav files don't play for me, but I was able to see the youtube video.
oh man I apologize for that! It seems you are not the only one that has that issue. Quite strange. Out of curiosity, what OS are you using? and what media player? Do .wav files in general not work for you or is this a unique issue?
I'm on a Windows 11 computer, never usually have issues with wav files. When I used the default media player, it simply grayed out and wouldn't play. I tried again with VLC media player, it does work there but its very quiet, I had to turn it up a lot to hear.
i sadly cannot play any of the versions (when i try to open them, the buttons go grey and it just... doesnt play)
Im sorry about that... Can you tell me what media player you use? It will help me de-bug the issue. Anyway, thanks for trying!
the default one from my HP laptop
very very nice! fits the theme
Thank you so much!
Was not expecting to see someone programming music that can be played by commands, respect the work and the music! Great job!🔥
Thanks so much for listening!
In case you are interested, there's actually a pretty decently sized community centered around what they call "live coding". There are a ton of different languages/frameworks for doing this type of thing, but the most popular one right now is Strudel, which is a browser implementation of TidalCycles.
Anyways, thanks again for dropping a listen.
Nice song! I watched the making of video and I'm wondering what that software is? What exactly is it doing here, how did you write melodies and drums for the song?
Hey thank you for watching the video! And for listening to the song of course. I use a programming language calledChucK. I actually wrote a blog post about it if you are interested :) But to summarize, the drums are from a Yamaha RX-5.
The synth behind the melody is a 4-operator FM synth patch mimicking a honky tonk piano, "wired" with all modulators stacking. That's part of what gives it such a weird gritty texture.
I really liked this! I think you used a de-tuned kalimba, right? That microtone-y kalimba with gritty synths definitely felt like something from the game Lisa!
Wow, good catch! Yes, they are indeed kalimba sounds! I found them here. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen. I don't know the game Lisa, but now I'll have to check it out! Glad the music reminds you of something somewhat meaniningful.
