How did you implement the Theme?
Bag is cursed and losing precious value while in your hands, but leaving it roam freely will cause it to overload! Learn to keep its value high enough without putting yourself in danger.

How did you add the Special Object?
Wealth is your dream! However, sometimes you need to use those precious coins tactically by transforming them into useful tools. Charge your active item and use it to give yourself advantages in battle.

Wow this game is fun and you can tell a lot of work was put into it (in both art/animation and programming). The gameplay is engaging and trying to catch the bag right after hitting an enemy makes me feel like a skilled kaizo level mario player with shell jumping lol. I also like that the map seems to be procedurally made and rarely has any dead ends so you don't easily die by the flying enemies. One thing I'd like to point out is that I'm sort of unsure how the powerups worked, as I activated it a few times and didn't really see what changed. I also think that dying is a bit devastating since you lose all of your coins (and keys I think?), but idk maybe its just a skill issue tbh. The bossfight is also pretty hard, and having to go through two maps just to reattempt the fight felt a bit long (again, maybe another skill issue on my end lol). I think if the boss had a healthbar it would give a bit more incentive to continue attempting the fight since you'd know how close you were to defeating it. Overall good game though, I love the little hidden icons that reference different games and I can definitely see the game's potential.

Thank you for such detailed feedback! And I'm glad you liked my little references :) This project is indeed intended to be a roguelite where you lose everything upon dying and have to try again in the procedurally generated levels. Currently, your active item will transform coins in the level into health or power. And no worries about the difficulty! I originally intended to add passive items to upgrade player character/traversal, but couldn't implement them in time.

Huh? Freckles?! Fun game, i enjoyed the core "toss my exploding bag" at enemies core gameplay loop and the final boss was fun! Would be cool to see a map so you can see where you have been searching for the exit and also i think the exit door should be marked "exit" rather than shop! I spent longer than i am willing to admit looking for an exit door not realising the shop was the exit.

Developer

Oh, thank you for finishing it! I'm still learning good practices so your feedback is super valuable. Would you mind sharing whether you felt frustrated that you couldn't figure out where the exit was or you were ok to explore for a bit?

A little frustrated yeah! But not enough to make me stop playing obviously. Im okay to explore for a bit but i think it was just frustrating to later realise what i had been looking for had been what i had walked past all along lol! I think some good fixes would be to say in the instructions that you go through the shop door to the next level or replace the "shop" text above the door with exit!

This is valuable. Thank you. I'm working on fixing the web version where I'll implement on feedback I got to hopefully eliminate the confusion.

I enjoyed it. And it's amongst the most polished and probably complete games I've played in this jam. Luckily it kept me running and I discovered there is a boss too. I failed many times, but it's easy to learn after a few tries.

Developer

I'm glad you found it enjoyable and engaging. Thank you!

Fun game with some nice polish. A little rough here and there but definitely has a lot of potential

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you had fun!

Its cool how you can use the bag as a weapon but in return it also damages you if you aren't careful. That's an interesting risk vs reward dynamic. The audio and overall polish was great. Only thing I can can criticize is the controls. I was very confused at the start, it took me awhile to figure out how to go down though platforms.

Developer

Thanks a lot! Would you mind sharing what you would change in the controls to make them better? This will help me a ton.

You could change the go down platform key from (jump + s) to just s. Also might be helpful to add some other options for attack and interact like maybe the mouse buttons or maybe q/e. Honestly though the only real problem I had was that the down platform key isnt explain in the help tab so even just adding it there would probably be enough.

This gives me some food for thought. Thank you.
