TriGameDev Monthly Game Jam

What is TriGameDev?

TriGameDev is a loose collective of game developers that started in the Tri-Cities Region of Northeast Tennessee

While many of our members are still there, there are plenty of us that are not

All are welcome!

Why is TriGameDev?

Solo game dev can be lonely

Let's be alone together

The Jam

The jam runs for 48 hours

Incorporation of the theme is mandatory, but your interpretation can be whatever you want it to be

Challenges are optional, but may help you to narrow an idea down, or practice something you don't often do

The Rules

  • NSFW content must be flagged
  • Your submission must be built during the duration of the jam
  • You can use any asset you are legally permitted to use
  • Gen-AI is permitted, lazy Gen-AI is not
  • No spam submissions, your submission must be unique to this jam
  • An interpretation of the theme should be incorporated into your submission
  • An explanation of your interpretation should be included in your submission
  • Respect yourself, respect your fellow jammers, respect the jam

The Theme

Destruction!

Whether it's blowing up Parliament, your relationships, or a toilet, breaking things is super fun.

Will you focus on the creativity of destruction, the destruction of creativity, or just big boomy boxes of TNT? The sky is the limit. Hell, you can even blow up the sky!

The Challenges

Fully Destructible World

Whether you go 3D, 2D, or even text, craft a game world where all that can be seen can be destroyed

Two Sides of the Same Coin

Make a game that explores the synchronous dichotomy of creativity and destruction

Send it to the MoMA

A few years ago, I made a silly cow game and sent it to the MoMA. Let's continue the tradition of bothering these poor intellectual stewards with poorly made art

The Ratings

  • Theme: How well did the game fit the theme?
  • Engagement: Did it draw you in? Make you want to finish it?
  • Sound: Does the game have good/interesting sound?
  • Art: Does the game look good/interesting/strangeinagoodway?
  • Impression: Does the game stick with you after you finish playing?

What Do I Get for Winning?

There are two ways to look at this:

1: Nothing of value

2: Bragging rights, a sense of accomplishment, and a cool role on our Discord

The two are not mutually exclusive

Make of them what you will
