For a first game, this is very good. And so polished in only two days! You gotta tell us your secret
Thank you! The secret is probably working on the game 35 hours out of the 2 days jam ;)
love the monochrome aesthethics
thank you!
Love a good platformer, found all the colours :)
woohoo :D
Cool game and a cool artstyle! Sadly I couldn't figure out how to get the color collectibles.
Thank you :)
Coyote time? Good level design? You're my 1# pick so far!
Wow thank you so much it really does mean a lot to me :D
I completed it, great work for only 2 days! i really liked the level design!
Thank you so much!
Very cool game! The minimalist art works very well, and giving color as a good ending is a nice touch. The game felt pretty hard to me, but it might be because I am really not a platformer player. I don't know if it is what was intended, but on my first run, I never got the speed boost because I did not go right at the beginning. It was mentionned before but the double seem to not trigger sometime for me; sometimes it seems it was because when the character is dropped if you jump right away it seem to count as the second jump but sometime it seem to be for another issue that I could not really pin on someone specific but it was pretty frustrating. Having the hitbox of the spike be more triangular so that you can jump over them even when starting close to them would have been less frustrating (but I've seen platformers implement it the same way as your game, so it might be a skill issue).
But despite the tiny parameters, the game has a very cool vibes and I spent a pretty long time playing (maybe a bit frustrated, but I still enjoyed it when I reached the goal)!
Thank you very much for the review. I definitely appreciate it and I will continue to fix some of the things you talked about in the future.
Very fun metroidvania!
thanks for playing :D
Took a while but I fix some staff :)
Very challenging and got softlocked in some parts, but for a first game and made in such a short time this REALLY good, great job!
thank you :)
I like that it's challenging!
Thank for playing I'm glad you liked it!
Great metroidvenia!
Thank you so much :)
It was fun! It's a bit too easy to get to some areas that you can't get out of. I had to restart to get the colorful ending. I couldn't make the jump back from the city.
thanks for playing and letting me know!
I love the character, he is so cute, well done!!
thank you! :)
Had fun but ran up into some locks :(
sorry to hear that I am currently trying to fix some of those softlocks
I really like the powerups giving you access to more areas! Enjoyable little platformer, and quite polished. There is only one area where you can get softlocked, but some finicky pixel managing got me out.
glad you enjoyed my silly little game :)
I love the non-linear level design with the progression lock in the game! very cohesive art & sound style! And it is cool that you have no in-game text to instruct players on how to play, and I am able to understand it intuitively.
Didn't play many platformers before, so I don't have any feedback on that part orz.
maybe it is a bug or sth. the 2nd time I played it, I saw those text : )
thank you for playing my game :)
Regarding these texts, originally there were no explanations there but I was told it wasn't clear enough how to play so I added it in but when I converted the game to web the texts disappeared half the time
I'm still not sure why this is happening if you have an idea maybe?
Cheers on your first release! I enjoyed the aesthetic and the nonlinear level design. I did run into the same issue as some other commenters mentioned with a respawn softlock, but after a restart, I was able to reach the town.
I hope this is the first of many games for you!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm definitely going to release more games in the future!
Great job. I like the style; I like the little guy that jumps around and how he looks when he jumps. I love the non-linear level set up where you go somewhere and you can't make the jump so you need to backtrack and go another way.
For some criticism, there was the one stuck bug people have pointed out which got me too but that happens in a 2 day jam. Momentum is super important in these platformers imo. It is very hard to get used to the system when you jump forward and stop holding the movement button mid jump because you expect your momentum to carry you and it doesn't. Instead you just instantly stop. Nova pointed out the lack of coyote time and input buffering which were missed but I think the lack of momentum was more noticeable. Only a few times I felt like I should have jumped on an edge of a ledge (coyote) but many times I was trying to make a difficult jump in between spikes and over corrected because I expected momentum intuitively.
Overall, great work!
Thanks for the in detail criticism, I'll definitely try to do that in my next game :)
For your first game its very good! I enjoyed it alot, but some times I got stuck and I had to restart.
thanks for playing I will try to fix the softlocks
