What's going on with the client and everything else?

When I search for something in the game client, it NEVER finds a game. You have to go through the website, and even there you have to be lucky to find the game. That's how it was with Unreal Prequel. It's an endless search, and even after you've installed it, you still have to search in the client for where it was placed. What kind of sloppy programming is this?

Just now, another game was suggested to me, Do Not Disturb, but it's nowhere to be found either. Can this company ever get its act together?

What's going on? No one has the courage to say anything, or what? No wonder nothing works when everyone keeps their mouth shut.

It's not about courage, it's just that a) most people do not use the app and b) as one of the few people who do, I can''t contribute anything beyond "yeah, it do be like that".

For a while, the app was completely unusable because CloudFlare kept blocking all access. It just isn't a very good app and maintaining it is not a very high priority for itch.io.

I actually wasn't aware that there was a binary client for itch, so I just downloaded it to run on Linux Mint and yeah; it's broken. I searched my own game while logged in and it couldn't find it... but I could just click on it via my username.

My assumption is that this had either been abandoned, or it hasn't been considered "high priority" for a while... either way; the download should be pulled off the main page for now. It's actually not good for how itch is perceived. I'd recommend posting this in one of the "ITCH.IO" forums, underneath "GENERAL". I'd assume under the sub-forum "ideas and feedback", though I would of thought it was "itch app development", but I'm not seeing any complaints there....

I'm not connected with the itch.io dev team at all, I'm just a solo game dev, but what operating system are you running? I might be able to help with articulating an inquiry.

Linux Mint

The Itch app cannot search at all. I do not know why. Even the regular search box is not displayed on page.

and even there you have to be lucky to find the game

That's probably why. Because it is not reliable to begin with. Search results are capped and it is literal title search. Generic titles are very hard to find by literal search. There's at least 10 different games by the exact title Do Not Disturb.

The "search" box in the app only searches the top games. It might lower user experience, if all the copy cats would be displayed along with the thing they imitated.

Somehow, the operators don't seem to have even the slightest interest in cleaning up this mess and fixing it. What's the point?

itch.io is chronically understaffed and takes forever to address anything. Get used to it.

Why should I get used to it just because they're understaffed? I couldn't care less; these are very simple jobs that should ALWAYS work. There's no need to discuss it; that's just a lame excuse.
