ooo I love the music! Lots of very cool game design and narrrative choices made me wonder -Is this based on something? The charging minigame was especially dope, love the switchup in mechanics. Sick entry, hope you enjoyed the jam ✨

Developer

It wasn't based on anything outside of letting jam constraints push me around. I do kinda want to make more games with these characters though.

I did enjoy it! I used it as an opportunity to sketch out a lil' game editor. (There's a secret hidden thing if you're curious, press "p" in-game to see the editor I built to design all the in-game scenes, can't save with it on itch, but I used it locally :) )

BTW: tho I created all the pixel art sheets for this by hand during the jam (characters, levels), I do want to attribute music to https://tallbeard.itch.io/three-red-hearts-prepare-to-dev, completely agree it was perfect for this entry.

I really liked the charging mechanic (and the minigame), which made the simple task of navigating the map higher stakes and more satisfying. Music was great, and set a very fun tone. I'm curious if there are different smoothies that could be made, and if it changes the ending?

Developer

There were originally different smoothie recipes, and each one had a different color, but I cut a bit of scope to ensure everything worked properly end to end :)

Being "tethered" by the charge time was a good way to make exploration more interesting, even on a small map. The minigames were a lot of fun too. Great work!

Great job, really cute! I love the aesthetic, as well as the music! Keep it up, it’s really awesome. I hope you’ll do well in the other jam you’re participating in too!

Really cool idea for the charging minigame. Really enjoyed the overall aesthetic as well.

The overall aesthetic of the game is pretty well done. The only thing I wish was if Rupert could get a few extra steps of charge, just so it doesn't hurt to explore the level too much.

A favorite so far! There was just enough challenge to make it interesting for me! Loved the look and feel of it, all the sound effects gave perfect feedback.

Proton Powder got me lol, that was great. The charging mini game was really fun, the music was super groovy, and the visuals were nice too. Also, the save system was a really nice addition.

I think the game has a lot of potential, I like the character designs, the music, and the atmosphere. Congrats!

Love the art style and the music is funky. Seems very well put together and I wanted to explore the spaceship more. I found it really hard though, kept running out of charge. Although the battery charging game was cool - I feel like minigames in a jam are usually out of scope.
