The fishing minigame made my real life sanity drain...
I could not even catch 6 fish T-T

Developer

Oh man, that really sucks, especially since the 6th catch was a major event pushing the story forward. :(

I will update to make it a little easier this week after the jam, because while possible, it proved a little be frustrating for some players.
I also heard you uncovered a bug with the ending not showing up, which I can only guess has to do with losing sanity while fishing.
You kinda got the double whammy of bad experience, my apologies! x-x

This was such a good game. So well polished too in such a short amount of time. I love the art style. I love the fishing minigame. I love the audio and how they make you feel your actually in that area despite it being a still image. Super good game. I definitely played a villian and got a bad ending. But I had a great time doing it. Great job.

So many villains here lmao, glad you liked it! :)

Great art and story.

Great atmosphere and I like how the fishing mechanic was frustrating enough to drain my sanity in line with the bar ;) And when the priest was doing the prayer slowly enough so that it was counter-productive/ neutral sanity gain, that was quite amusing (not for MC).

I would have played through for all 5 endings (or at least good + 'evil') but there was a bit too much of the fishing mechanic to get through , personally.

Small feedback:

  •  I think the trigger of the ending 4/5 should wait until you are on the world map as I was just about to restore sanity in shop.
  •  I wasn't sure if skipping dialogue seemed to preserve sanity? Feels like it should pause on most normal dialogue situations.

Everything felt very cohesive, great art direction and the characters felt organic, very good job!

Developer(+1)

Definitely a pain point many players felt with the sanity constantly falling, even during dialogues.
It doesn't really make sense it a dialogue-heavy game, and it feels bad if you have to skip dialogues not to go insane.

Prayer does restore some sanity, though it gets less viable, the more bodies you sell, as your sanity goes down faster with each one. Not sure if that was the case for you, but though I'd mention it

I'll be fixing some frustrating parts after the jam, thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked it regardless ^^

Atmosphere is amazing and the art is beautiful. The story was also great and creepy. The fishing mechanic was cool but the fish movement was sometimes maybe too random and erratic for me. Also since the sanity depletes all the time a pause button would be nice (or if it is there I didn't notice). But overall I really enjoyed this

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Definitely will add some kind of a pause system after the jam!
The fish are programmed to be more erratic, the slower they are, but it could use some tweaking for sure.

Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked it!

I love the comfortable art, the nice audio, and the unique fishing experience!

Developer

Thank you so much, I'm so happy you enjoyed it! <3

I love your aesthetic ! Are you on artstation or any other platforms?

Developer (1 edit)

I'm so flattered, thank you! It means a lot to me.
I have a really difficult relationship with social media, and my artstation hasn't been updated in years unfortunately... You can find me on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shievietz/ but this one is a completely different artstyle than the one in the game. I might start posting my other art on a different account soon though, once I get up my courage haha.

Tolle Einreichung
Naturally, I comitted suicide the quickest but I went back and had to continue for the other endings.
Great story and mechanics but, by far, I love the artwork and artstyle. The fishies always made me smile.

Oh boy, what a solid entry!!

I want to complete all the finals.

I liked everything I saw, the gameplay and the art; it seems to be of a very professional quality.

My respects :o

WOW! AMAZING! SO STYLISH!!!!

WOW! That was very immersive and elegant game design. I was pulled in by the story, art and incredible use of sound. This makes me wish I had made my game a lot more like this. I also got genuinely scared haha.

Great work sticking to the theme and great work creating an excellent game so quickly.

I wanted to play again to see the other endings, but there wasn't a button to restart the game. I didn't realize my sanity was changing at one point because I was processing IRL, maybe shaking and adding an outline to the gauge to indicate when it's being affected, would help. Unless that was an intentional design choice to elicit panic, and neurotic checking of the sanity gauge.

I'm glad you like it!

Thanks for the feedback.
I didn't have time to make a restart button, but I figured it wouldn't be a problem, since there is no save states anyway, and you can refresh the page quickly to start again. But it sure would be better if there was one!
There is a glitchy sound cue that grows louder, the lower your sanity is below 50%. But you're not the first person to mention missing it, so an additional visual cue could be helpful.

I might update it after the jam is over! ^^
