Such a great use of the theme! I love that the whole set up is told without using words, but is still really intuitive thanks to all the nice animations. A special shout out to the death animation and the baby getting carried away meter. Very polished entry, hope you both had fun jamming xx

I sort of like this throws you in the deep end right from the start–I had a fun time dashing around trying to save babies. The character art is really, really charming! I love the arms-raised crying animation when your character is idle, and the little grave and ghost that appears when they die.
This looks, sounds, and plays great! Maybe it's just me, but the starting resolution was HUGE, I had to zoom out to 40% to even see the fullscreen button.
Really fun to play! I don't know why, but the seeing the leader-board was really exciting, haha. It set the stakes up a little bit. The art was adorable and I loved the whole hero mechanic. Well done guys!
Ok. Here goes.
First of all. Coming 2nd on the leader board was infuriating...
This is the best game I've played this Jam. Very well thought out and the UX is great. you deserve a lot of credit for the effort you went to in this game. Hats off to you.
My personal feedback for you:
I didn't use the dash because moving diagonally doubled my speed, you can easily normalise this in code with like one extra line so I'd have a look at that as it made one of the mechanics you spent time on unnecessary.
Your art was great, your use of the theme was great, your use of the banner as a manual was great. 9/10 because I couldn't figure out the buckets.
Well done Old Chap!!
Oh wow, thanks for the great review! I actually came into this with low hopes of it being enjoyable, as I couldn't finish it, so reading this definitely lifts my spirits. I was contemplating not submitting it, but I didn't want to disappoint the wife who spent so much time on the art XD.
Haha, oh no, you got so close. 2nd is still pretty good though, kudos! And very much appreciate acknowledging the UX effort, it definitely took a bit of time; I'm very happy it paid off :)
Really appreciate you bringing up the diagonal movement issue to me. I had no idea that was happening, so this is incredibly helpful to know for future projects. Also, really wanted to get some quick tutorial to explain the mechanics a bit, as I realize they weren't the most intuitive. That banner image was the next best thing I could do hahah.
Very thrilled you enjoyed the game as much as you did. Thanks so much for the kind words and the helpful feedback! :)
When you say the banner was the next best thing I actually disagree and think it was inspired!
Think about the days of the Gameboy. There was little to no space on those cartridges, so everything had to be reused and optimised. There was no space for any bloat and with constraint comes creativity.
They had to use booklets to explain the game before you played.
Your Constraint wasn't space, it was time. and you handled it beautifully. I'll be taking inspiration in the Jams to come!
I love that the concept was saving babies. Dropping them when I dashed was really funny. It was awesome that there was a shop to buy things from during the run and it was very intuitive to lead the enemies into the hero's attacks. The art was really great too. Nice work :)
This is pretty fun game with very original concept and art!
It took me some time to understand the controls because I didnt read the banner image! Lol!
The mechanics are pretty well executed too!
Nice game! Had a lot of fun bunddling up the gobblins before killing them all at once each time x)
I really like your interpretation of the theme, it's a really funny concept for a game! :D
Nice Game. I liked the gameplay loop and the scoreboard. I am currently in first place(King Kong).
Even if you overscoped for the game jam, the core idea here is really solid and works well! Depending on another, stationary character to deal damage is very clever and fits the theme perfectly. I wish that the upgrades were more impactful, but even incorporating an upgrade system in the first place is impressive.
Thanks I appreciate it. There were more upgrades planned, but the shop ended up barely being able to squeeze in there. The upgrades available there now were, what I thought, the quickest ones I could get away with implementing. We had stuff in mind, like throwing a potion to slow enemies down and stuff.
Super glad you enjoyed it thanks so much for the kind words and feedback!
I liked how literally you took the theme - do the different elements do different things? The movement was fun and the dash was satisfying. Good stuff!
Really cute! I liked everything very much. And it makes me laugh that as a solution for a tutorial a poster was made! I understand the lack of time in making an in-game tutorial!
Apart from that, really good work and the characters are very cute.
I really liked the dark goblin and the little laugh, it felt like a fun game and the theme was well implemented.
Cool game! Played on xbox controller, controls felt very smooth. Nice art and a lot of fun mechanics to perform. You guys really cooked with this one!
Glad you played it on a controller. Definitely a big fan of gamepad support myself.
Makes me happy to read this. There are a lot of issues and polish I couldn't get to, so reading this makes my day. I need to scope things better lol. Super glad you had fun with it. Thank you for checking it out and for the kind words!
Oh this was nice, such cute characters ;-; Loved the instructions poster at the top!
