A really interesting design for a game! I will echo what a few other commenters have said, about pacing, and the link between the descriptions the members provide and what you should be rating. Even though it wasn't always clear what I was supposed to rate, i still felt the tension between rating accurately and meeting the manager's distribution goal, AND fulfilling the tasks of each individual member.
I liked the art in this game and the idea of checking over each product is cool. ESPECIALLY the idea that the product needs to meet a certain distribution level and you have to figure out how to market it. Its fun finding the balance between safety and the truth. Made me feel like a real capitalist lol. Good job!
loved this game, very well made and good use of theme
What on earth did Lucy do. Fun game with a ton of personality. Each character was quite distinct and each room having it's own music really made each character memorable.
I really like how the lines changed as you submitted more and more products.
I identify as simon the eater.
Voice of all characters were awesome and way you make change in music by position and idea behind the game concept was really good.
There's a lot of character here! The premise is original, and the different testers are all unique and interesting, especially since they each have their own musical theme! I'll second what others have mentioned about the overall pacing being a bit slow/repetitive though. Maybe it would make more sense to allow players to rate products without actually consulting all the testers first? This would give the player more agency overall, and if there are negative consequences for doing so (i.e., ratings are more likely to be incorrect), it will help reinforce the importance of the testers. Just a suggestion. There's still a lot to enjoy here!
Thanks for playing and giving feedback!
Your suggestion was an option considered; it was thereafter concluded, though, that implementing it would likely lead to many players skipping dialogues altogether and perhaps not even discovering all characters. Moreover, there's plenty to fail you nonetheless! Wrong ratings are ideally caused by increased awareness to the situation. If a player gives too frequent incorrect ratings and avoids speaking to the NPCs, he should not experience much of the game and never adequately engage with it to care for the consequences.
As the game has a natural limit, and the repetitiveness might was thought to potentially benefit the overall aesthetics aimed at, it was deemed best to keep it in the implemented manner.
(This reminds me of the arguments for and against the Endless 8 arc of Haruhi Suzumiya if you're acquainted; it's really a matter of taste)
Really lovely game! I absolutely adore how the music changes from room to room, it feels like every place and character has their own OST, which is such a nice touch. The mechanics is very interesting, and the story and writing feel really heartfelt. This game has so much personality! I really like it. Great job, keep it up!
Thanks for playing!
Our music fellas had to grind real hard for that, so glad you liked it!
So much to love here, the writing, the room changing music (this music in the Bard's room was especially a banger), the very original and strange format. Fabulous entry, hope you had fun in the jam (again) ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚
Thanks for playing again!
Indeed we made a bet on the format, hope you liked it!
Really hoping to bring the pizza home as well, although it feels a bit out of reach yet again... Gotta up my gear for next year! (or rather next jam, though that doesn't rhyme)!
The managers room was such a vibe haha. Great game!
The manager was indeed quite something to craft
I liked how the music changed from room to room, and the little character dialogue noises were funny. The whole idea of reviewing the product after everyone's analysis was really interesting too. It made the cast feel more involved, and exploring their personalities was fun. Cool concept overall, and it's clear a lot of work went into making the whole thing feel distinct.
Gratitude for playing!
Those dialogue noises are probably the most ridiculous thing I ever put in a game, glad to see you liked 'em!
I really liked the characters, especially Simon the Eater. The transitions between music are excellent, and I also laughed at the character effects. It’s a very fun idea, congrats! Maybe I’d just add a sprint function to move around the map.
Thanks for giving a play!
Indeed the character may be a bit slow, perhaps we could make it a bit faster in a post-jam patch. Hope it didn't hinder the experience too much!
This is not a visual novel game, like you said in another comment. It feels along the lines of "That's Not My Neighbour" where you have to look at all the information and dialog and classify stuff correctly. The music changing depending on where you are is nice. The characters are interesting. The design could use refinement, but it's a good submission.
Thanks for playing!
(On a personal note, the comment you're referring to was written way past midnight after a long grind)
I was not acquainted with any non-visual novel game that is mechanically similar, so thanks for noting one! Could be useful for future reference.
I appreciate your feedback!
I really liked the graphics, the melodies, and the bug-free programming - kudos on all of those!
On the flip side, the game's objective could be made clearer. The relationship between the results of the product tests, the manager's desired distribution for the product, and what is expected from the player when filling in the report still remains unclear to me.
Also, as another commentator mentioned, the dialogue could be refined and made less repetitive.
Overall, a really impressive submission. Good luck in the jam!
Thanks for playing the game!
I understand your confusion, but this is a text based game. Not reading the text is skipping most of the game. Some small segments of the dialogues do repeat, but they are few, and only repeat 2-4 times and no more. Perhaps the whole dialogue is mispresented as repetitive because the initial greeting does repeat, and it is the first chunk of text in each dialogue. The parts you have likely skipped contain all the answers you seek.
Nonetheless, I appreciate your feedback!
Interesting game. Had fun exploring the testers and their personalities. I think some of the dialog dragged on a bit but then again, I’m rather impatient. Good work!
Thanks for playing man!
It is a visual novel-esque game so I can understand it might not be your type, but the gratitude remains nonetheless!
