That was a bit confusing experience, but I started to understand the movement logic after some time.
I didn’t love the jump scare in itself, however it wasn’t just a rando zombie, it was some nice entity, which had a nice style. I don’t know if my stick in my hand actually did anything though :)
Here’s my play-through:
Very creative. I feel it does qualify as a dungeon crawler by our definition and I like seeing titles like this that do experimental stuff with the dungeon crawler genre. This feels more apparent with the transitions turned off. Having said that I kept getting stuck in spots where I could not figure out how to leave - it seemed as though there were one-way passages into dead ends? Is that intentional or a bug I don't know. Overall I think the aesthetics and the art are wonderful and I would like to see a game like this with fewer glitches that block my ability to proceed. It's especially disappointing getting stuck because the whole environment is so cool! There is so much interesting stuff in here!
What did I just play? In terms of a Dungeon Crawler, this does not really work. This is just to far off from the standard step by step grid movement. That said, the experience was interesting and there is the core of maybe a kafkaesque horror game or something. Hm, but I don´t see the retrofutursim here? Was is the old PC?
THE end
The presentation is cool and this small ride was atmospherice and intriguing, also got me confused with the no turning back part and for example in the second room when you actually get back in the first part of the room you're automatically turned to the same position as when you entered from the other direction.
Thanks for sharing!
The stamina mechanic for turning is a great idea. I also like the visuals and sense of space in the final area. Navigation in general was a bit confusing, there were a few times I got turned around or couldn't move somewhere I thought I could, but it added to the tense horror atmosphere. Nice job!
The room transitions were definitely a bit off putting, so nice work having a toggle for those. Another one where tracking navigation of an unfamiliar space in my head made my go in circles for longer than I probably needed to :D
But I did make it out…. can’t say the same for Enrique.. RIP.
Game So Easy I Beat it Within 20 Secs
brodie you helped make the game
There was a computer named Enrique. I had to leave him behind. I miss him every day.
Escaped to Bliss hill! I can't play with transition effect on, that stuff's too disorienting. Also I feel some of the room transitions doesnt track, like sometimes there's a door in front of me but I can't move forward. Cool little game!
