The lands stand united, the fort must be conquered.

The Harken Expansion is out! 8 cards to add to your dungeoning arsenal, and the evils that come with them.

Fully complete with unique abilities and miniboss effects for your run. As well as full artwork for Conquests and Perils.

I've had a blast making these, and I hope they nicely integrate into the dark brutality of the fort.

Also, It's free!

The fort awaits.

Super cool! Well done for making them all

Don't you think that scavenged arrow might be a bit too busted hehe

I honestly thought it would be too inapplicable. But I think the state it's in now is good. In real runs I've felt that it's hard to build and play around, but maybe that's a sign that the design isn't too cooperative with other cards (Which I want it to be)

played a game, only had elder spirit clarion, sunderstaff (placement issue) and scavenged arrow on the field and it gave me 30 points alone for 5 resolve left, no amount of perils really could top it

the only thing that really shuts it down are flame traps

I might change arrow then. I think I was too stuck on the fact that getting max value from it is difficult and inconsistent, but didn't realize that even if it isn't at max value it's still kind of ridiculous.

I'd like to keep the core concept of "Keep resolve for scoring" intact because I feel like that's fine. But it could use some number tweaks.

Maybe the bottom and middle could be +2 and +1 per resolve respectively, and the card could cost 2. That leaves the top feeling weird, but maybe just having it be "This has +1 if there is any DEX resolve left" would be fine. It's supposed to be an early investment definer, so having it be weak at the top would make sense.

maybe +x points based on the largest dex pool of resolve? this would prevent abuse of steel mechanic

I've got a question about Legacy Haunter. After my chosen hero's resolve is all used up, do I then get to use my other heroes? or does the game end there?

The "Play as normal after their resolve runs out" means you can use any resolve from any other heroes you'd like after the first hero's resolve has run dry. Say you choose champion. After their resolve runs out, you can use sage's or wanderer's in any way you'd like.

Fun fact: I originally intended this miniboss to have you choose a  new hero every time one would run out. So you'd choose, say: Champion, then run out their resolve. Wanderer, then run out their resolve. Sage, then run out their resolve.

But playtesting it, it felt too limiting. And made too many moments of instant loss happen. Where you were stuck with unusable resolve, and had to go straight to scoring with 4 or so empty spaces. (Which is disastrous for the empty space rule)

want to know more about the scribbled icon for the card cost... what does that signify? is it a unique cost type or is it something else?

Those would be Wild cost cards. I'm realizing now what the problem is.

The current paid version of Brute Fort includes the Auspice expansion. It also includes an updated rulebook clarifying rules and adding a new cost type, Wild.

I think the current non-paid version of the rulebook doesn't include the Wild cost explanation. (As without Auspice, there are no cards with Wild cost.) But this becomes a problem when the free homebrew expansion includes Wild Cost cards (Which, if you didn't buy the full game, just go unexplained)

Wild cost cards (The scribble ones) can be paid for with any resolve type from any hero, and may even be spent using the resolves from multiple heroes. (Say, 2 resolve from wanderer and 2 resolve from champion)

I might ask Alfred if I can add a Wild explanation to Harken, since it's an Auspice rule and Auspice is a paid product. Or if I should change the wilds in harken to other costs.

Will this and the other  expansion come with the KS physical game or be available to purchase physical form?

This is a fanmade expansion, I have no intent or right to sell this. But you can print yourself a copy if you'd like. I used very thick paper and sleeved the cards to make them more durable.

(I'm not related to the kickstarter, I made this expansiom out of appreciation of the game and art)
